Sharing a song today that I’ve wanted to cover for ages, by one of my favorite composers - Bruno Coulais.
It comes from a movie, the Secret of Kells. A faerie named Aisling sings this song to a cat named Pangur.
The song is in Gaelic and English. Here’s a translation:
You must go where I cannot,
Fair Pangur, fair Pangur,
This world is nothing but mist
and we will live but a little while.
With the Gaelic, it’s:
You must go where I cannot,
Pangur Ban 'Pangur Ban',
Nil sa saol seo ach ceo,
Is ni bheimid beo,
ach seal beag gearr.
If you listen close, you’ll hear my cat singing along. (She understands Gaelic, apparently.) ;)
This is my first time singing in Gaelic. So if you’re a native Gaelic speaker who notices anything off in my pronunciation, please let me know! I wish to learn.
All love,
Noe
