The dynamic between Aizen and Urahara is ome of the things that puts Bleach so high up in my rankings. The fact that there's so much depth in said dynamic, despite the two of them only having a couple conversations throughout the whole series is crazy. Urahara is the only person you can really say Aizen looks up to in a way. The one man aside from Aizen himself (and Yhwach) who could have the means to take the Soul King's place, but he chooses not to because he sees the value in the Soul King's sacrifice. Aizen just can't understand that logic.

Both are really strong. Aizen has the strength to not succumb into nihilism and try to search for something higher, trying to change the status quo to what he sees as better, while Urahara has the strength to accept his nihilism and use it to carry the world in his back, denying his own desires in order to do what's more logical in the current status quo. As much of a Last Man that Urahara is, he's a different and stronger perspective of that concept than what Nietzsche idealized and despised (instead of searching for purpose in artificial values and maintaining the status quo because he couldn't bear a purposeless and meaningless existence, he didn't turn a blind eye to the ultimate truth, and rather was forced to maintain things as they're without so much as complaining, choosing to follow the current world's logic since there wasn't any meaning or purpose anyway), which kinda shows us the way the story goes. Funny how Kubo portrays both sides as strong in their own ways, but ultimately giving the victory for the Last Man. Bleach is basically Kubo provoking and picking up a fight with Nietzsche.

It’s not about the importance of the soul king but the truth about it that made Aizen revolt. Soul society is built over treachery and blood, kept running by corrupted people using their own status to do whatever they want and get away with it. Aizen rejected that reality and he wanted to have somebody who could actually change that society, he chose to try to take the soul king place because he wanted to achieve what he considered freedom. He was evil? Absolutely, he is no saint, but there is a reason if even harribel said that she finally understood Aizen motivation after watching what happened to the soul king and Yhwach.

Nietzsche would probably be upset. The guy hated being wrong, and Kubo basically showed him that the Last Man doesn't necessarily need to be a weak and fragile man who can't bear his sense of lack of meaning in life as Nietzsche portrayed, but can also be someone who simply values the current statues quo and thinks it's more logical to keep it. Nietzsche would indeed see the depth of it all, but he would probably get angry because Kubo portrayed one of the things he despised the most as something actually strong, and that, even more so, ended victorious above the Übermensch.
