Australian Rail Track Corporation operate a track geometry and infrastructure inspection train around Australia's standard gauge network on a series of inspection trips around the year. It is comprised of three former FAM sleeping cars that have been converted into a dedicated test train and coded as AK2382, AK2384 and AK2383.
This video features SSR's 4911 and GM10 hauling this test train from Ararat to Maryborough, via Avoca on 24 April 2022, during a run to Yelta and Murrayville in late April 2022.
The video opens with the train powering upgrade out of Ararat on the cross country line. We then follow the train through Dunneworthy, Ben Nevis, Eversley, Elmhurst, Avoca and Bung Bong. The final shot sees the train passing through Havelock, just north of Maryborough.
