You got all wrong Patty... no one WANTS an abortion or to end a life. People just want the choice to govern their bodies. Ectopic pregnancies are soon going to be illegal which means many babies AND their mothers will die for literally NO GOOD reason, that is the very definition of a society that has lost its way. When logic and reason have been lost to ideological bullshit. Not even the Bible says says its "murder" because the punishment is less than murder. Also the Bible says life begins at breath. Which happens after birth. No one is shouting from the rooftops that they killed their babies or that they are proud but people are definitely standing up for their rights and that is very different.

I'm not sure what this documentary was supposed to accomplish. Was it to elicit sympathy for Norma? Were we supposed to feel sorry for her because both pro-life and pro-choice used her as their poster child? Or are we supposed to be sympathetic because she grew up poor, was molested, made a ward of the state. While Ms. McCorvey's life story is indeed tragic, let's not forget for a moment that she used both sides as well. She stated at the very beginning, she wanted to be an actress when she grew up. Well, I'd say she deserved an academy award for the performances she put on for both sides while they were "using her". She loved the attention it got her and I don't think she doubted for a second that they were using her but it got her on TV and probably lots of other little perks to feed her ego. For all you haters out there that are going to say that I'm saying this because she's pro-life, pro-choice or a lesbian--you couldn't be more wrong. Just because you grow up poor and terrible things happen to you doesn't mean that you have to go through life being a duplicitous liar playing on the sympathy of others and seeking out unwarranted attention. If she had really cared about either side, she would have gone on with her life out of the public eye. I suspect that she was well compensated for this and kept her name in the headlines.

Regardless of how you feel about abortion. Remember some basic facts. Ms Roe chose not to get an abortion in an adjoining state. Planned Parenthood lawyers found her. She had just become pregnant. That is important because of what the final decision was and it was based on which trimester you were in. Ms. Roe was used by Parenthood and she used them. She did want an abortion and they cut a deal with her, let them represent her in Texas and they would pay for her to have an abortion in another state if they lost. Wanna bet? Years later, she changed her story to get money from the Christian right and she did because she told the story they wanted her too. They didn't know she had changed her opinion on abortion until she told them she did. I don't think she ever changed her opinion on abortion, she favored it when useful. She would lie for whoever benefitted her. She was pregnant with her third child at 21. Think she hadn't learned about protection by then? Those are facts and do not change the issue one bit. The issue is not if abortion is good or bad, I think we can all agree it is not a good thing. We are truly as a nation of laws left with only two issues. Does the constitution allow for abortion to made illegal by states. That is the legal question. The other question is if it is to be legal for states to limit abortion, what is the constitutional limit. Constitutionally, it should probably be found legal for a state to outlaw abortion though morally questionable. I say this because abortion and suicide are not rights in the constitution. There is no amendment you can point to that says they are and at one point both were still illegal. For me, I not think any government or community should have the right to prevent me from suicide or a woman from having an abortion, nor regulate what I can put in my body. By the way, prohibition was never overturned by the courts, they said you could abuse your body with booze. So, what am I saying. I am saying, I don't care what this women thought or did, it is not about the issue on whether or not abortion should be legal. That is many people's first thought, they are wrong. The real issue is whether or not the government has the right to regulate your body. If it does, can it force you to take a vaccine or force you to have an abortion or prevent you from having either?

I met Sarah Weddington as a pro-life protester when she came to talk at the university I attended (oddly enough, Sarah thanked us for being the most polite group of protesters she ever met, for not interrupting her talk and keeping our questions civil... that was, in part, because even as an ideological opponent, there was a lot to learn from somebody who was there). Anyhow, while Sarah didn't directly come out and say it, she more or less admitted to using her. when she claimed that Norma was a pathological liar, which caused problems for them, and that Norma would say anything for a buck. (Which is pretty much an admission, because how would she have know what Norma would do for a buck unless she was using her?) Of course, I really had hoped that Norma really did have a change of heart since she was claiming to have had a conversion at the time, but every time I heard mention of her, it was always at the back of my mind. In the end, well, she was telling the truth. That said, in spite of finding her talk surprisingly interesting, Sarah Weddington was amazingly narcissistic herself. I had never met anyone who uttered the word, "I", so much... well... at least until Barack Obama entered the public limelight.

I represented Norma for about a year. I hosted her website and consulted her on speaking engagements. This is not what the hours of discussions with her were like. Release the full interview so we can see the unedited version. Are you pro choice or pro life? I spoke with her when she was penniless. I worked with her on scheduling and here POC's on things. Of course she knew what to say and was paid for speaking engagements. That is the standard method for any speaker. I haven't seen your entire documentary and will watch it. I will hold off my full assessment until after watching it. I can tell you that Norma immensely struggled with the guilt of what she did, she was a walking shell in a perpetual state of grieving and sadness. I am confident others spent way more time with her and I could be wrong. This was my experience with her. Again, I would like to know if the director and producers are pro choice or life.

Having watched the majority of this documentary, my thought is that it is the saddest attempt to distort history and the reputation of the woman who changed her mind about her decision. Simply agenda driven and stitched together propaganda. The use of interviews from 25, 35, 40 years ago to develop Normas character on her deathbed to suit the directors agenda. Yes- Norma was incredibly rough, used bad language and made regretted life choices. Everyone who speaks has standard things they say. Standard expressions of their beliefs and what their hosts topics are. Because the director spliced and stitched a few clips to make it appear as though Norma McCorvey was hypocritical about the topic of infanticide is the worse use of someones legacy, good or bad, to shift historical facts and truths does not demonstrate what Norma truly believed.

@@ThatCarGuy I guess you have to believe what God said in Genesis, that man was made in God's image.(Man, meaning men and women). God values man (men and women) so much that He sent His son Jesus to take the punishment on the cross for the sins of man. But, if you don't have that biblical perspective you may not see the baby that was conceived from birth as valuable and precious in God's sight.

When someone lies about you, when they accuse you falsely, you sound angry. You don't immediately sound so completely scared, weak, and mewling. You don't immediately begin bargaining. That's how people sound when they get caught, and didn't expect to be. "It's such big stakes" -- that's your reaction? Pure sociopaths.
@kaleidoscope8743
2 жыл бұрын
That's your opinion.. And people don't necessarily get mad because when someone lied to them. You get disappointed - and she sounded deeply disappointed. If people were paying her then, who was paying her for her deathbed confession? And not only that just because she lied it does not change the validity of life. Many people have had abortion and figured out that it took the life of their baby because you feel the life force of that infant leave your body and it dies during the abortion procedure. I have several friends who have gone through excruciating long-lasting depression and emotional scarring because they were told it was a blob of tissue but when the procedure was done they realized and recognized the life of their baby had just been snuffed out inside them. And I'm telling you that is one of the absolute blackest experiences that a person can have. A lot of female suicides now or because of the extremely high rate of abortions happening to girls who are not just in high school but in middle school and summon grade school. Children are becoming suicidal because they're exposed to this stuff. I'm not saying I judge anyone who has been through it. I've just seen the devastation that it causes. It's long-lasting. Just like when someone has a miscarriage and they go through a lot of depression because the baby died inside them. This is not an easy thing for women it's not healthy. We need to go back to a time where men took responsibility for their behavior and they taught their sons not to touch a girl they couldn't marry. Feminism has not protected women it's made them more vulnerable to things that they weren't vulnerable to before. Like being sexually used been rejected then left alone to cope with the outcome of an unwed pregnancy. That in itself is terrifying position to be in for a lot of girls. I'm old enough to know how life was before Roe v Wade and what it has come to now. It's been devastating to women. Many women have died because of botched abortions.
