Hey mate great vid. I have a 2000xl and 1000 and was on the hunt for some nice house beat making vids. thinking about getting off ableton for a bit having a break and make some stuff on my mpcs. You kinda got me wanting a one now though. lol. You got any tips for bass? Like how did you guys use to do it? I’m finding stuff I use on the regular in my daw and going to export into the mpc as single notes. Same as chords. Unless there is a better way. Thanks.
@TheCratesMotel
Ай бұрын
Pretty much that mate. Sample one note at a time. Of course the new MPCs have the Multisample option where it can automatically make you your own keygroup program. It’s really easy as well. I made a whole bunch of my own programs from old synths via MIDI.
@dave808turner

@@TheCratesMotel thanks for the reply mate. It’s almost like you need to make your own sample pack I feel to create on the old mpcs. I remember I would get like 80% of a track done then would get stuck because I would need some keys of other instruments then I would loose momentum. Let’s see how I go this time. Next time we talk I may have a new mpc. lol.

Great video man! Have been producing French House for 15 years and it brings me so much joy to see it done right! The LPF technique works really well with air vintage filter btw, there’s an LFO in it that lets you modulate the cutoff rhythmically that gets it groovin. 🍻

Yes absolutely. Whilst I was in the flow I completely forgot about AVF. Good shout. It's funny, I had to delete a troll for shouting out that French House is easy to make and anybody can make it. So why are there so few people doing it properly?? Anyway, I deleted his negativity. Surprisingly, he had no back catalog of anything lol

@@TheCratesMotel man I can relate, that’s the other half of what I produce 😂. People hear the simplicity of certain tracks and make the assumption that it was a lack of effort. Where it’s actually a well calculated concept of keeping the simplicity of something and showcasing why it’s dope on its own. Could not agree with you more man.

I love them. I have been using the 880s and 770s since the 80s. I have a pair of the 1990s which I also like, but the 900s are so smooth. The 1990s are great for checking the highs on tracks, but I fatigue very quickly with those, so only use them for referencing. The 900s I could wear all day. I didn't think much of the 700s though. I don't understand how they could get the 900s so right and the 700s so wrong haha

@@TheCratesMotel Coming from a Sennheiser HD 25 II, which I literally have for decades, this is my first Beyerdynamic and I find them very neutral sounding. Almost boring, which is what I like for mixing productions. It also helps against hearing fatigue, especially because it is also very comfortable. My closed model Sennheiser headphones I still use for DJ-ing though, and taking my MPC Live 2 outside.

Love the house beat tutorials. I think it's a gap in the mpc content community that I always am excited to see. As someone new to MPCs and beatmaking I get lost when it comes to sends/returns, outputs, and submixes. Do you have videos explaining the difference of those vs adding effects for tracks?

Hey dude, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. On a few occasions I have tried to make "arrangement" videos, but as they are track specific, it is really difficult to put something together that can help in a generic way. It is on my list though, so I will try again.
