This is cool but because its ducking the whole process is upside down, which it has to be on the MPC. KLF and the Shamen were using the key input on noise gates, not duckers. I do this on the Force with the envelope followers. I'm looking forward to when they get all the features harmonised between them. You're going to love being able to use a drum track to control filter cutoff! Your videos are great. Thank you.

Hey thanks for watching. Yes I think KLF may have been the first people I heard use the gating technique in this way. This was way before Trance producers stole the idea adn made it their own. As with all things on the MPC, you have to use a back to front workaround haha

Nice tip. Would it work better to use Offset on the hi hat sample rather than change the midi performance by nudging it? I don't use offset much, but it can place things ahead of the beat, right? That could allow all hi hats to play slightly early I think.

Yes of course you could. Offsetting is a great way of doing it also. That’s what I love about the MPC, there are so many ways to do things. Thanks for watching.

@@TheCratesMotel Not Flex Beat. The free Air Vintage filter that came out like with the 4 other free FX like the Expander, Multi-tap delay...etc. The Force just got updated to 3.3.0 today & now we have them too, well 3 out of the 5. I'm still testing them but just wanted to know your opinion.

I've been wanting to try this technique in my stuff for a loooooong time! I had been thinking about it for a while. I got the idea when using one of those gate plugins. I thought wait a second, I can pretty much make any gate source I want with the motherducker
