I'm all for this because the prices on the 3K are absurd now.

2000/XL definitely colors the mid end, it's why snares snap so well. I wouldn't consider it a transparent sampler like maschine. I'm a 2000 user, and tempted by a 60/3000 as well.

I agree with all of your points about the 2KXL . I sold my 2KXL and replaced it with an MPC Studio where I pre chop and sequence and if I want the 3K's texture I resample those parts into it via the SPDIF

One additional thing is the 2KXL lets you use up to four drum programs at the same time on the 3000 you can have I believe 24 loaded but only one active per sequence at a time

But you can play multiple sequences simultaneously 🙂

People will say everything is better than the 2000XL, hipster influences will say it sounds bad, BUT more God tier tracks of my preference (real 90s hop hop) were made on the 2000XL than anything. I've owned every mpc (hate the new ones) and although I have love for the 3000, the 2000XL and even 4000 are where it's at. If you want grit, just control an S900/960 with the 2000XL.

The XL came out at the end of the nineties so it didn't make as much of the nineties hip hop really. It's more the early to mid 2000s where the XL came in. Nineties hip hop is the 60/60 II, 3000, for MPCs. The classic came out ninety seven, I got mine in ninety eight, then the XL came out after I got my classic and my friend bought one, which I now currently own. RIP to my friend. Both the Classic and the XL sound great as far as Im concerned and I agree with you when it comes to the 4000. That's a beast that even the new MPCs don't have the features to match

Just fan boys....and there is nothing wrong with that. If it helps you be creative or just motivated. But they are digital so any digital sampler can sound the same and there are way better hardware choices out there, bigger screens, more storage, etc. For wayyy less than the cost of a used mpc 3000

Can you edit with numbers on the XL like the 3000?

Hey, as I'm sure you know the mpc3000 sampling editing is done by ear (chopping using numbers only, No wave editing). But the 2000xl has visual wave editing also with the numbers. I can use either one. The 3000 has been my go-to mpc for long time now, But the 2000xl is more user friendly to me with the Time Stretch feature, and some simple stuff like the Undo button lol. Both of those are things I use constantly.

People romanticize mpc 3000 way too much i came to same conclussion as you 2000xl suits me better than 3000 or 60. But now i tried mpc live mk2 and om selling my 2000xl

Fully agree ... Like with cars people tend to get caught up in nostalgia which colors memories making them better than they actually were. The MPClive 2 is a beast. Turn it on and your good to go. No speakers needed, no headset, you will be making beats within 20 seconds and be productive. In the end it's all about productivity !

@Roomer645 i understand but It's about quality not quantity. It doesn't really matter what you use, whether DAW or hardware. The product has to be super dope and of exceptional quality. What I like about the old samplers is how primitive and minimalistic they are, yet effective in the right hands. You won't be overwhelmed with 1000 plugins, presents, etc. I also own an mpc live 2, which has completely different qualities that I also appreciate

Ok, I had the 2000 when it came out. I still own all my floppy's and I am about to buy another MPC. Can the XL or the 3000 load those old samples and sequences from the 2000?
@dianevrules

2000xl can play all 2000 files. X/One/Live/Live II can play all 2000 files. Just get a floppy usb and connect to X/One/Live/Live II usb. It will read all pgm, snd, all files. 3000 will only read 60 and 60 II files.

Yes. I'd say most if not all of my videos are biased. That's the beauty of having this channel for fun instead of trying to make money from it. I can really be myself as though you were sitting with me here in the room. Which is an amazing thing to be able to do when you think about it -- connect with other like-minded people from around the globe. Even if there are only 100 of us. Plus I don't really care about either the XL or the 3K anymore. I'm using an MPC Live and haven't looked back. I do appeciate you taking the time to leave a comment though. That was super cool of you. Not everyone bothers. Have a solid day!

3000 is overrated af. My 2000 can do everything it can do and a lot more. I dont care about the converters. What I put into my 2000 is wtf that comes out. Thats all that matters. If I want to alter the sound, that s@&$ happens during mixing. Not in a d@mn drum sampler
