To put it context, there is 259 episodes, this complication, along with a few others, focus on fat jokes, but is not the theme of the show by any means. The show is primarily about Al's unhappiness & self loathing mostly about being married, hence, the shows name "Married with Children". FYI - The chicken jokes are only about his neighbor Marcy, whose movements resembled a chicken in an early episode I think in season 2.

Everyone has different tastes in humor, its no big deal. The interesting thing is that a lot of the women Al insulted on the show were comedians themselves and apparently, the lady who played Marcy (chicken lady) wrote a lot of the jokes for him to say 😆 Yes, humor (or rather, accepted humor) was rather different back then. To me, its not sad that any type of humor exists, its sad when people try to crucify and destroy peoples' lives because they are way too sensitive. If I don't like something, I just don't watch it.

im with you with everybody has different tastes of humor. But that's the whole point these days. Everything im talking about the whole society is catering for the new way of living. the Gen Z era. the soft era I call it. Comedians were the only ones who could say everything. They took that away from the comedians. Hence, you only have the soft catering humor you got these days. People like the late Paul Mooney, Patrice Oneil or Corey Holecomb. these comedians will not work in this soft ass era. But to me and a lot off people they are comedy legends. And that's my point. to exclude a whole side of comedy. Only to not offend this soft genaration.

This show was great because it caused much controversy when it came out on TV. It wasn't afraid to rip into everyone and talk about every topic in society. People were less afraid to speak their mind and speak the truth. Sadly, today that show would never be able to make it to the TV because too many people are too uptight and woke. We need to return to a place where everyone is allowed to have their own opinion even if it is offensive. Today, the same opinions still exist but no one opines unless they are with trustful friends. I am so glad I grew up and came of age in the 1980s because there weren't cellphone and the internet and my friendship were and are based on real people and not likes online. We had less bullying due to the fact if you wanted to bully someone, you needed to have the balls to say it to their face and that normally meant a punch in the face.

One of my all-time favorite shows! It was on TV from 1987 to 1997. The problem with these complications is that you don't see the scenes in proper context ... you don't see how Al is provoked in most of these instances. You don't see how Al's wife and kids leech off of him or the Bad attitude most these women have when they try to push Al around at his workplace.

True. Being a shoe sales person in the 1980's and early 1990's was considered by a lot of a degrading job. Shoe sales persons back in the days took a lot of abuse (a lot like how you see fast food workers in KZitem videos today). An older cousin of mine worked at a Footlocker in the very early 90's, barely made 3 dollars an hour, having to handle people's feet (a lot of which stank something all else) and was treated like a piece of dirt (sometimes having to run in the back dozens of times).

Al (Ed O'Neil) called Marcy (Amanda Bearse) a chicken all the time. He also called her a boy because she is small chested. Ed and Amanda were friends when the show began, but by the end they hated each other. Marcy started out with long hair and more feminine, but then she cut her hair a acted more manly. I have heard that Amanda because more comfortable with her own lesbian sexuality in real life as the show went on. For this reason, she felt Ed disrespected her and treated her like garbage. She tried to get Ed fired from the show despite the fact that he was the star. This caused more problems and real hatred. There is a video on KZitem about this hatred and they both give their own point of view.

It absolutely is the guy from Modern Family, his name is Ed O'Neil and in this day and age where everything has to be politically correct, it's not surprising that you didn't find it as funny as we did in the 90's when people were still able to laugh at jokes. The funny thing that most people don't realize is that quite a lot of the fat jokes he says to the customers in the shoe store were written by the ladies he was insulting. They were plus sized female comedians that came up with the insults he was saying to them. As for his neighbor, Marcy, from very early on in the show he started saying that she looked like a chicken and it became a running joke until the show finished.

While he did use fat jokes quite a bit, there were only one or two per episode. With exceptions. So it's understandable why a compliation might feel oversaturated with them. It's not Millennial humor either. The show ended in 1997 which makes the oldest Millennials about 17 years old. It's more Baby Boomer and Gen X humor. We knew this wasn't reality, but it gave us an outlet to decompress from our hectic lives by watching the Bundy's do and say what we could only dream of to our customers and sometimes families. I've noticed since this type of humor became improper our societies as a whole have become more angry, stressed and aggressive with no outlet for relief. Now we attack each other for the smallest things and get offended at the dumbest things. These show never were meant to be a personal attack on anyone, but some with weak minds act like Al or others were talking directly to them and insulting them, not realizing that most of those fat women on the show were comedians who contributed to the exact script that would be used to make fun of themselves. We lived by the old saying, "If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?" I was 26 when the show ended.
