The one thing you can not help but notice is how well dressed these gangsters were. Expensive suits, vests, ties and hats. They look just like bank managers.

Particularly the crooks. It's a facade they have constructed to hide the ugly reality; that they are just grim low life's.

Being well dressed has to do with having money and they did. Also capone was the best dressed cause the others all had baggy suits except him.

all those gangsters look like dead men walking, like any minute someone could jump out and "whack" them, and they knew how it could be done, always waiting for it to happen because they knew it would. could not have been a very fun way of life.

My great grandfather was "employed" by the park service. He always identified as a Park Ranger "I'm not going to say which park" He made a lot of money. I was very little BUT I can remember when detectives came to his door. He and my great grandmother were babysitting me. I worshiped my great grandfather. As a baby ANY time I was crying I could be passed off to my great grandfather and I would stop crying and go to sleep while tightly grabbing onto his shirt. I would then wake up and cry if he handed me off. Anyway, I can remember when detectives to came to their house. My great grandfather saw the men at the door and then looked down at me and with as serious a look as any man could ever have he said "go to the play room young man." It was the extra bedroom we would sleep in when we got to spend the night with them. For some reason ……..I ignored his order. You have to understand....he was six foot five inches tall! He was a giant to me! He was a God to me! I never once even THOUGHT of going against his orders!! It was because I just absolutely loved, adored, respected and honored this man so much!!! He was God to me!! For me, he turned into the worlds biggest Teddy Bear!!! He ALWAYS put himself on my level and taught me more than I ever learned in school! He had a pet bear at the house from "his job" His name was Lincoln from his deep love and respect for President Lincoln. He taught me about President Lincolns life from as early as I can remember. He ACTUALLY read bedtime stories to me about Lincoln. They were not any old story. They were Abraham Lincoln's ACTUAL court cases!!! I'm not kidding!!! They were copies of actual court manuscripts that I STILL HAVE TO THIS DAY!!!!! They are now so fragile that I have each page encased to protect them but I still read them to my son! ANYWAY...……...I ignored his order and I hid behind the front room couch and the wall. They questioned him about a shootout that took place at "the point" between 15 men where 13 were killed. The shootout was around 4 stills that were grouped together. Their voices got loud and I can remember getting really mad as a little boy and thinking about coming out from behind the couch and yelling at them to GET OUT OF MY GREAT GRANDPARENTS HOUSE RIGHT NOW!!!! I was really mad ANY MAN WOULD EVER dare to raise his voice to my great grandfather!! I remember feeling so proud of him for SHARPLY raising his voice and shutting them down!!!! He made it CLEAR he did not know what happened and they were interrupting meal time! I remember him telling them "a man who does what he can to care for his family is a man!" They said something that made him angry. I can't for the life of me remember what it was but they said something and he HAD ENOUGH of them being n his house!!! HE MADE IT CLEAR!!!! He told them "GET OUT BEFORE I GET PISSED!!!!! I clearly noticed him getting off the couch VERY fast and the sound of metal clicking!! I learned years later from my great grandmother that he drew his gun, cocked it and pointed it at them! They left! They never bothered him again! He believed in the law. He believed in a mans responsibility to provide for his family above all. There were men wo made moonshine as a way to care for his family. There was NOTHING wrong with that in his eyes if it provided for his family!!! He was doing his job and answering a complaint. He was at the stills telling the men what they were doing wrong that was alerting people to the still. He was telling them what they needed to change and how they needed to change it when gun fire broke out. These men did not say A WORD!!! They just started shooting trying to kill these men who were just trying to make money to care for their family! Their minds were set on killing and nothing else! My great grandfather took his paycheck as well as pay from moonshiners to look out for them. He told them when to run. They would from time to time leave their still for the police to find so he was never suspected. That shootout happened because those guys went there to KILL MOONSHINERS!!!! There was nothing a bout peace or making any attempt to arrest people!! They were there to kill! Things got twisted back then. The ":good guys" quickly became the "bad guys"! They were doing evil things to reach their goals!! They called one woman to a meeting with officials but it was a trick and they burned her house down when she left for the meeting! They drowned a "slow" boy in a river just to scare a certain family! At the peak...…..the law was the evil side while the Moonshiners were the innocent people! The government was never so evil as they were during those days!
