@mtbboy1993

There are frames that have great internal routing, but not all do, so it's a nightmare to deal with, some even go in the down tube then out of it and into the seat tube, some do at weird positions and angles. but less of that now. My bike has internal dropper, but it's done well. but rest is external and well done, so love that.

2:12 Actually separate pieces is common, most HG cassettes are like this, Shimano did it for decades, so did SunRace, even Sram. But once piece CNC cassettes came to the market, I have one of those, by Garbaruk, about 300g, for 11-50T 11 speed HG.

Tracy is stylin with that dropper but now you need one for the F/S bike. I think the 32 oval will work much better than a big ole 38!
@theshedMTB

I knew you would comment on that big ole' 38! All the gears were off for her with the 9 speed cassette, that just brought the ratios into a range she could use, we all knew it was temporary.

Some people actually file the wear down on the Hub from the Hg hubs.
@theshedMTB
Жыл бұрын
No reason to. It goes on there fine but its looser the more it wears. Its kinda a known problem for HG hubs, all my hubs have the notches. If it really bothered me i could get a new freehub for like $20.

12:51 Just file the splines down, until you cna't anymore without splines being too narrow. you should get many years with it, even with brutal use, but of course it depends on use, but if you ride around 1500 km per year it sohuld last for years.

2:26 on the back of the cassette, I think there are a few Allen rods that thighs all together, they can get loose over time, keep them tight

I think there rivits,Alex, i dont remeber any of mine using allen screws
@mtbboy1993
Жыл бұрын
@@theshedMTB they are definitely rivets, this cassette seems to be copy SunRace, unless they made it like they did for Box Components. But I had 2 of 11-50T 11 speed Sunrace, one new one second-hand, both eventually quit fast got loose rivets so eventually I could not shift at the bigger cogs. Awful performance, but also before it got that bad, the teeth and cogs bent, there were sharp edges at the ramps, teeth, I had to file them down. Basically it was overpraised trash. I am happy with the Garbaruk.
@theshedMTB

@@mtbboy1993 ive really not had any problems with the cheap HG cassettes. The rivits havnt loosened on any of mine. That was just Alex's suggestion of something to check .The only problem i had with a cassette was the one i bought for the xd hub. $125 and literally didnt work out of the box!

@@theshedMTB I saw a video where a guy took a Microshift cassette under a microscope, he had similar issues with the cogs, teeth, wear. But the issues I experienced were only with Sunrace, and the rivet play was only with the 11-50T, not the 46T.
@mtbboy1993

@@theshedMTB I snapped a cheap Shimano 34T or 34t maybe it was 36T, was a cheap cassette, don't remember which, but I broke the mid cogs, snapped in half. I did it during a climb. That was the only cassette I broke. Maybe it was faulty. The xt m8000 did fine, but bent cogs on it sometimes, but was on a very flexy bike, so probably the cause for that one, and only happen on that bike. But cogs were stiffer than Sunrace, Sunrace cogs are flexier. But I did not like the big jump to 46T cog, the 42T xt cassettes were nice. I had several of them. The Sunrace cassettes 46T were on 2014 fuel ex, and 50T were on Geometron G1, so stiff enough bike. zero issues with the Garbaruk. M5100 cs shifts well.

@@theshedMTB the reason why I asked is because I was considering the Fastace 303 (its a great value) but when i did the measurements I realized at full insertion and max extension the seat would be too high for my normal riding position. A 100mm dropper would be ideal for me, because my preference is to have the max travel to my normal riding position.
