This video deals with the controversial statement of Sh. Muhammad bin Abdilwahaab in Ad-durar As-Saniyyah;
" Most of what is in Al-Iqnaa and Al-Muntaha is contrary to what Imam Ahmad is upon"
This statement is part of a wider conceived notion that, what is found in the books of the latter hanaabilah, contradicts the statements of Imam Ahmad.
Sheikh Al-Quaymi explains that this notion is invalid and affirms that the earlier and later hanaabilah are in fact both the same.
Background information:
The scholars of the hanaabilah can be divided into three categories.
(chronologically).
1. Early scholars.
Examples : Students of Imam Ahmad
2. Middle scholars
Examples : Imam Ibnu Qudamah
3. Latter scholars.
Examples : Musa Al-Hajjawi
The official madhab is what was agreed upon by both books AL-Iqnaa and Al-Muntaha. Both books where authored by later scholars.
Any attack on the books of the later scholars is in reality an attack on the Hanbali Madhab as we know it today, that is why such a proposition is quite problematic, and as such it needed to be addressed.
