Original Swing Era dancers Al Minns and Leon James and other dancers at the Savoy Ballroom in the early 1950s, recorded for the documentary The Spirit Moves: A History of Black Social Dance on Film, 1900-1986.
Music for The Spirit Moves was typically other Jazz music laid over the video recordings and often did not suit the dance being performed.
For this video I chose Lucky Millinder's "Three Bones", recorded in the mid-to-late 1940s. Lucky Millinder's Orchestra was a Savoy House Band in the 1940s, so it's possible that this dance was performed, at some point, to their music, and even to this song.
Thanks to Sharon Davis and JazzMAD for the video I took from youtube (their captions remain) and edited with this music.
