Hello from Chicago! I was born and raised here but my parents immigrated here from China. Even being 1st generation here, I can agree with you on this sentiment. We grew up with little and were taught to work hard b/c no one is going to give you anything. I didn't grow up listening to much music and I only started listening to country a few years ago after a wedding in Nashville. I had no clue I was going to love it so much. The exact moment it clicked was when I was in the middle of a packed bar (ah the pre-corona days) buzzing with a nice beer in hand, when the band struck the first chords of Wagon Wheel and the entire bar erupted. "Holy $#!7 I'm the only guy here that has never heard this song!" LOL. I was hooked. Something about the simple life and family values along with the melodies really hits home for me. I'm literally listening to this song for the first time ever and it's sooooo good. Looking forward to discovering more classics like this. Anyways, thanks for posting this for everyone to enjoy.

In 1982 on the Mountain Music tour I met drummer Mark Herndon during a break of the band playing softball 🥎 against the local radio station DJ’s. I was a beginning drummer and asked him how to play the fast part on Mountain Music. He showed me with his hands on his legs explaining it was a paradiddle-diddle between the kick and snare 🥁. He said to learn it slowly listening to Ride the Train from the Feels So Right album. I’ll never forget how kind he was to a young drummer and a total stranger! I’ll always love the Alabama band!

I'm not an US citizen, I'm from Chile. While I was visiting a beloved Aunt in Santiago back in '92 I saw a beautiful-covered tape, put in an old cassette player, and starten to listen my all time favorite country song "Country Roads", and after a couple of songs ... Dixieland Delight for the first time. From that moment, I fell immediate in love with the song, and when the Internet arrived to Chile for all public in '94, I started to look more information about this song, and it's accurate translation, but Internet was young, poor made websites, and it was almost non-existant. After meeting an old 18-Wheeler driver from Texas ten years later in 2004, NAM Veteran (a friend of my father), I brought the topic to the table, and I finally come to realize the importance of this song to Alabama people. And today, just before knowing about the Russian invasion, searching in KZitem about this wonderful song I realize how moving and powerful is "Dixieland Delight" to Alabama people, and the rest of US . Nowadays, It's like a National Anthem , and it's played in important Sports Events, and even in Ceremonies. I'm not a rich person, but I hope someday I coud visit the US, and sing that beautiful song in a Big Alabama Stadium!

Indeed They Did Flicewatter (Love the Name by the Way). Back in the 80's they were Young Hungry Musicians. They Were Also were Professionally Promoted. Both on the Country Music Radio Stations, and on the Road. I've Seen Them 3 times in Atlanta, and Have Met Them Back Stage once. They were Genuinely Nice Guys. They Allow me To Present this Video. Can't Thank them Enough for That.
