As an Oregon fan, y’all will be just fine under DeBoer. He’s a winner. He’ll take an average roster and elevate it. As much as he destroyed my Ducks, I give credit where it’s due.

@@PrickFlair Nah, one can read defenses, the other can't, so it's not just style. You can get a running QB but still need to know basics of QB atca major program. My fellow Bammers are going to learn this. I'd have thought his 20-pt showing vs Michigan, where Harbaugh was in Milroe's one-dimensional head from opening whistle might've clued them in but it looks like it'll take another disappointment to drive it home (Of course, it's his last yr anyway). DeBoer kept him there so I'm guessing that the portal and/or Saban's departure has left the QB cupboard bare...for a second year. I hope I'm proven dead wrong but against the better programs, I don't see it. He got UGA last year but that seems to be a Saban /Smart thing, too.

I can see 2 sides to that coin. I think on one side, you can probably get more consistent effort out of guys, rep for rep, in the morning when it’s less hot but, on the other side, Bama plays at 11 am and 2:30 pm in this southern heat and I think what Coach Saban was trying to do was condition guys to push past that challenge and learn to think and execute despite being hot and tired
@BarnesonBama
3 ай бұрын
I agree with that but at the end of the day I think if you are well conditioned then the time which practice and run throughs happen may not matter. After all it’s still insanely hot in the summer and I think the practice piece was referring to during the season

Talking about recruits is a waste of time. These kids can change their mind in a moment. They’re not on the team and they will not be playing this season. It’s nice when people focus on the kids who can actually make a difference that are actually on the team

The only thing that I can say that I feel like Coach did wrong, was not taking out the lineman that was getting beat like a big bass drum every play. Why he waited so long is beyond me. The only thing I can think of is that he didn’t want to break the spirit of the young player.

Alabama will see how good they had it with coach saban, just because you get the 5star recruits dont mean they will pan out, this feels like usc when Carroll left or osu before meyer got there. I fan see 7-5 yrly avg record, talent could take them to 9-3

I mean in principle I understand what you mean I think the difference is Alabama was able to replace him with someone days removed from the national title game and also who has won at every level he’s coached at. Clearly there is going to be changes when replacing Saban but time will tell how DeBoer does in the role

DeBoer should be much more relatable to the 17-22 y.o. athletes but that's at the risk of players also being softer. It takes mentally hard players to play under Saban, just as it does to build a team no one wants to play. Hopefully DeBoer's demeanor won't cost the team the toughness required to achieve success. #roadTo19

I'm an Alabama fan one thing I've noticed is a team is too been too relaxed during the off-season and during practices you can tell the tensions are not there like it was when Sabian was there and he was working on him like he should have that concerns me about Deborah I think he's a little too soft it will come out and take games at the end we'll see hope for the best😊
@BarnesonBama

I disagree. I don’t equate relaxed with soft. I think that it’s just a different coaching and personality style. Often when people talk about DeBoer they mention a humble confidence and that’s partially due to the success he’s proven on the field. I think that it’s definitely different but I think it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Appreciate the comment though

There's going to be a lot of overreacting this first year, maybe even two. Does DeBoer have a great roster and staff to work with- yes! But, the expectation by many that he, and this program, have to hit the ground running, maintain the same continuity, and keep the same high-level of winning as under Saban is a little much the first year or so. I can already see and feel the exaggerated criticism in Tuscaloosa if Alabama has two losses by October. The cries of DeBoer being the "wrong hire" will be pervasive. Give the man time to build things his way!

@BarnesonBama He completely understands the pressure, the expectations and, the overall situation he's getting into. If anything, I like how he's embraced it and met it head-on so far. I'm more directly addressing the "outside noise" and the myopic and unrealistic expectations that emanate from the fanbase and boosters. Demands that will reveal their ugly face and that will accompany any early season setbacks or losses. While I believe DeBoer is capable of maintaining Alabama as a Top 5 program overall, the expectation that he does so immediately, without any bumps in the road, might be too much to ask right away. Saban's dominant tenor in Tuscaloosa has virtually created a no-win situation for DeBoer, especially in the short-term! We will see!

Oh I 100% agree as that was something even Saban himself wasn’t immune to. Think of the 1 point win over Ark when Saban ripped into fans after the game saying some walked out looking like we had lost. The expectations of this place are sky high and have always been that way
