Audio of NOAA Weather Radio broadcast from March 18, 1996 when much of the State of Alabama was placed under a rare "High Risk" of severe weather by the Storm Prediction Center. There were 13 tornadoes confirmed by the NWS in Alabama that day in addition to many other severe weather reports.
This was before the automated voice was used and features Dr. Tim Coleman, who has worked for the National Weather Service, broadcast media, and research meteorology for UA Huntsville.
Tim once got locked in the weather radio room due to a broken door during a severe weather outbreak! While several people worked to get the door open, Tim stayed on the air, with forecasters sliding tornado warnings to him under the door.
