A playthrough of Sega's 1994 movie-licensed based platformer for the Sega Master System, Aladdin.
The Master System version was a Europe release, but the US did get the Game Gear version (which is the same game, just on a lower resolution screen).
The 8-bit Sega Aladdin games (developed by Sims) have little in common with the famous 16-bit games based on the film, but it's an impressive piece of work. There's no doubt that this is a HUGE step up over the abysmal NES game (the official one, at least!).
The graphics (especially the animation) and the sound are amazing for a SMS, and it nails the many of the movie's big moments and motifs with a slam dunk. It also seems to be aimed at a younger audience than the other versions - this game is stupidly easy. Not only are the stages themselves simple and quick to get through, but you also have unlimited continues and a password save system. It seems overkill for such a short title, but the game is fun regardless. I do imahine, though, that it would probably been less easy to appreciate if you had paid full price for it new.
