I was really drunk one night at my local The Eliot Arms in Saint Germans, Cornwall and I’m sat at the bar when this man bumps into me. I turn to my side to see it was Alan Ford, though being very drunk at the time I couldn’t remember his name just his face. I said I recognise you from somewhere then I said you were Brick Top in Snatch and continued to call him Brick Top. I bought his drink, had a chat to him and asked for an autograph (behind the bar were postcards with a picture of the pub on it so I got one from the bar) where he wrote “To Nich thanks for the drink, chat and recognition. Wishing you all the best Brick Top AKA Alan Ford”. Still got that autograph some 16yrs later

Snatch was my favourite film when I was growing up. I remember renting it from a video store (those were the days). Then I got it on VHS.. played it over and over and over, never got tired of it. I'm sure I must have watched it close to a hundred times back in my youth.. I knew every word in it off by heart. I always thought it was by far the best British movie of it's generation.. in my opinion much better than Lock Stock which seems to be more appreciated and held in higher regard.. for whatever reason Lock Stock never clicked with me in the same way Snatch did. Personally, I much preferred Snatch. Maybe it's just because I grew up with it. But either ways, truly fantastic film. One of the best. A real classic.

@@drunkenmaster6434: Brick Top's glasses were Alan Ford's. According to Ford, somehow he wound up reading for it with his glasses ("me lenses", as he called them) on instead of his contacts, which he normally didn't do, but the director liked the look and said to use them during filming. Brick Top's glasses were accidental, not at all part of the script or the character's initial design.

@@MariusRiley Nearly right. He forgot his contact lenses for a screen test so wore his glasses, Guy Richie liked the idea of glasses but sent him to the opticians and picked a frame designed for industrial use that could be used as safety glasses , heavy duty , result was the effect we saw in thye film.

Alan Ford did such a fantastic job, and then to have him say all the actors and actresses MADE THE FILM WHAT IT IS...VERY COOL..I'm impressed by people who are humbol and recognize the contributions of others. THAT to me IS A STAR...Not talented people who let their own b s go to their head. Rip Alan Ford

I forget about this character Brick Top, after a while then see videos like this and remember he's one of the best characters. My favoirite part is when Errol walks in, sees that there is a dead body, continues to get his guy a cup of tea, does what he was asked to do, steps over the body without looking then leaves. 5:15

Yeah at that moment that’s when even the slower black guys were starting to realise the danger they were in. 7ft Errol being this mysterious old man’s tea boy
