Got to meet Alan King in person backstage during a college internship and then got to watch his live show for free. Great times.

Alan King was perhaps the best story teller in comedy, a great crowd comedian, just totally brilliant. He can dip into some seriousness and back out to make you laugh. It's an immersive experience for me. "SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE!"

One of the funniest stories Alan ever told on the Tonight Show was about the time he boarded a plane at LaGuardia airport to go to L.A. to do the show that same afternoon. Because of delays and mechanical problems he ended up on several planes before he finally got out of NYC. Also included in the story was about a cab driver he had to deal with. I hope that this will show show up on You Tube some day.

One of the funniest routines I’ve ever seen is King doing his “survived by his wife” skit. If you haven’t seen it, find it on KZitem.

No offense to the comics of today, but, the art of story-telling is non-existent. Alan King was so hilarious and brilliant without being profane.

“I wanna make a doctors appointment.” “How about a week from tuesday.” “Swell, i’ll have the hurse drop me off.” Cynicle, sarcastic and hilarious. 😂😂😂

He was like Rodney Dangerfield and George Carlin, put together. Starting out in the Borscht Belt hotels of the Catskills before gradually making his way to the big variety shows of the 1960's like Ed Sullivan.

@@carycomic1954 comedy is so subjective? But I think you hit it on the head. I always felt his act was intelligent comedy..not that you had to be smart to get it, lol. But rather the punch lines were so subtle within the frame work of the story. Like Rickles also a very good dramatic actor.
