Love the interaction between Chris and Alan, and when they have different view/recommendation is better!

Kinda like Hereditary, if the whole film was basically just waiting for Toni Collette to discover her daughter's headless body in the car.

With Alan on this one. This movie, while made well, is a form of torture for anyone with any empathy.

So many questions left unanswered. For one; did he do it on purpose or was it an accident? Second; did anything actually happen with the neighbour or not? It's one of those films where you will be questioning the main character a LOT.

100% agree no black comedy aspect in what happened at all ZERO how anyone could laugh or find humor in those circumstances is disgusting.... Now if it would of been a Cat then I'd be laughing my arse off cause it would of had it coming in Spades. Even a Purse dog would of been worth a Great Chuckle and Laughs. Those darn things are horrid.

It seems to work on a certain kind of person who gets off on how transgressive they are. Funny how there are no movies that go all-in on positive emotions, it's always this super dark depressing stuff. Being an edge lord only goes one way.

@@phonepunk7888 You have a point. There should be more movies that go all-in on positive emotions. In that case watch Amelie; it made me feel a joy for life after having watched it like no other film has. On the other hand, I support movies that go for both ends of that spectrum which is part of why I appreciated The Coffee Table too.

It’s a movie. It can’t hurt you. It might be unsettling or unpleasant. But the idea of something unpleasant being *unsafe* is as wrong as it is pervasive.

@@oldAzekai I didn't even say unsafe. And I also don't mean unsafe. I mean if someone who has been in the same situation as the main character sees this movie without knowing anything about it, it'll be a really shitty experience. Hence the warning.

Somewhat off topic, but one reason I really enjoy this channel is your expertise and appreciation for the small, technical details of filmmaking. OTOH, sound mixing for your videos is completely backwards. Context is everything: KZitem is a completely different medium from films, which are mixed to be enjoyed in theaters by dedicated audiences. The huge majority of your audience is watching alone on a computer, likely in a home where others are trying to do other things. That means anyone whose volume is adjusted to hear dialogue will play the music startingly / rudely loud, while anyone who adjusts to put the theme at a civil volume will find dialogue inaudible. This is by no means unique to your channel, but it's frankly idiotic. If anything, dialogue should default to louder than theme music in this venue, because missing a word of dialogue can ruin enjoyment of a show while missing a note of music ruins nothing.
