When I was 15, I remember considering how a person who is blind must see... So I closed my eyes and was listening to everything around me, calculating what I thought was what and what it's aproximent location was... This was causing my brain a lot of work trying to know where everything was without seeing it. So then I stoped, (trying to identify) labeling everything, every sound that I heard. And just listen. Let all the sounds come in all at once (without me "getting in the way" turning it into a process, putting a label on everything... Just let it be.) And for a moment, I swear to you, it was like I could see 360° degrees around me. From kids outside running by the house, cars driving on the road near by, birds tweeting right outside the window that had wind flowing through it because it was open slightly and the clock sitting on the counter clicking. I remember it kinda freaking me out a little bit so I opened my eyes, jumped up and snapped out of it.

Nah man I expierenced that myself quite a few times albeit on LSD haha but i know exactly what youre talking about i could thinksee everything aroung me the birds in the trees what color they were and everything. I wrote it off as imagination the first few times but after a while and actually seeing the things afterward that kinda changed my perspective on the matter. There probably really is something to that especially considering so many govermental agencies around the world did extensive research into this matter....

As the commenter above I am blind and I think what you did is truly incredible because thats exactly how it is. The same as sight. You don’t look around and label, you observe passively and everything you need to see is there which is exactly what you have to do with sound when you don’t have any sight, all the detail and richness is there if you just shut up and take notice. Its harder with sound though because its very easy to shut down your visual imagination and just see through your eyes but shutting down your inner voice and just listening is more challenging. Sounds to me like you are a very empathetic person and I appreciate you trying to imagine what my perception is like.

Though to think is not to think if you can get that concept of things..You listen to what he says, you think about it, then you apply it in the form of meditation which is not thinking.. just applying the conceptual values in a different form or state... and it is when you don't think that real and true ideas come from out of no where...
@ajs9378

The key to meditation is not "to not think" , indeed in one of his talks Alan Watts says exactly this. Meditation is a whole state of being, I can meditate going about my everyday life, it is an inner calm of sorts and a perspective only you can be aware of. To apply a maxim such as you have is to put it in a box , it is like trying to explain love, it cannot be explained by something which it is not, you cannot explain love because it is so very personal and indeed everyone will have a different view which also cannot be exactly felt by another. Meditation is not tangible, Alan Watts does make us think a lot but that is not to say we cannot be in a meditative state whilst thinking. In Savasana in Yoga I ask my students not to empty their minds, indeed that would be impossible, but rather to try to slow down thoughts ; to try to create spaces in between them to calm a busy mind, this to me is how anything and anywhere and any place can be a meditation,they can then take that with them and their inner calm shines out in their interations with others and has a beautiful knock on effect of compassion and acceptance. I would explore this open view of meditation as it is very interesting to oneself. Peace x

The thing is, he talks about thinking too many thought to experience “the real world” , but Alan Watts legacy is exactly that. He is all about thinking thoughts about everything under the sun in inside our existence, and then going around spreading his thoughts on these things. So not only is he denying silence in his mind, he’s taking the thoughts that are denying the silence of his mind and bringing them into the physical word in the form of actual words, impeding on the silence of others. All that being said, I find his lectures to be inspiring and interesting.

Jordan Fister: I do happen to see things differently than most, I feel that part of the true nature of reality comes with the truth that everything is one, one entity or soul that connects everything on a spirtual level and that the physical forms our shared soul inhabits is what purposely creates the illusion of seperation and the relative perception of individulality, thus allowing ourself (reality itself) a mechanism to fully understand what it means to BE through the infinite perspectives, aspects and forms that WE, "GOD" itself, are existing in. I believe that what we call chaos is as much an illusion as time and that the universe as one living soul is always in what we would best describe as harmony. When you believe everything is one then nothing matters until you understand that what is relative to you and what you decide matters creates a beautiful paradox, from the smallest sub-atmomic particle to the ant on its hill to me writing this right now, one soul, one universe, yet infinite of both through our soul's intentional use of designing our physical forms to seat the soul and use the brain as a harddrive that puts our soul into an amnesia like state where we have the opportunity to gain new understanding through living and experiencing reality with other incarnations of ourselves, time has no start or end, it doesn't exist at all beyond our relative calender view of it, indescribable but our soul is everything, all at once.Jordan Fister: Jordan Fister: I do happen to see things differently than most, I feel that part of the true nature of reality comes with the truth that everything is one, one entity or soul that connects everything on a spirtual level and that the physical forms our shared soul inhabits is what purposely creates the illusion of seperation and the relative perception of individulality, thus allowing ourself (reality itself) a mechanism to fully understand what it means to BE through the infinite perspectives, aspects and forms that WE, "GOD" itself, are existing in. I agree that meditation can help "liberate the mind of the past," but it doesn't teach you how to be different. You have to relearn all your behavior patterns somehow and know what to relearn that too. Also, I still have all the fears I always had after 14 years of meditating and many mushroom trips. Heights still give me vertigo, and general anxiety is still an on and off problem.

I disagree . Comments on many a video on here are more entertaining and informative than the actual presentation or talk . Someone makes a video and you watch how people respond , each according to his predicament . When we post a comment , we probably reveal more about ourselves than we realize .(( every time we say anything we should feel uncomfortably exposed , if we are insightful enough )).

Different wave length of vibration have different qualities, which when plotted on a graph can be identified as sound light, heat, radiowaves etc and many we have not yet identified what specific effects they produce.

This is Hinduism 101. Everything Alan Watts is teaching is core “Hinduism” that overlaps with Buddhism (because Hinduism and Buddhism are very very similar).

They all share similar themes. Basically and etiquette of do good and good will come of it. Nirvana and Karma. Hinduism is a lot more in depth. Buddhism is like a simplified core version. Less deities and more focus on self-correction and connectivity. Vs. an 8 arm to goddess of destruction balancing existence with a creationist following behind.

Lost In thoughts What you just described is just one school of thought in the massive umbrella of Hinduism. There are many schools of thought in Hinduism that essentially more or less believe in the same thing that you just explained about Buddhism.

Time is the dimension in which we observe the flow of entropy.

I would rephrase that to say "...in which we observe the gradient of entropy." The word "flow" assumes the concept of time apriori, where as the Arrow of Time is the emergent side effect.

Isn’t the irony of all of this that the more “civilized” or “advanced” we get as a society, the more we need to hear these truths that Alan and so many others who came before him speak?

I stumbled across your ad & I guess probably because, I’m studying now that I’ve been enlightened. I’m about to do some NFT’s once I learn more about what it/they really are because, I have so much to share of my own and I am so curious to learn more now that I’ve seen your ad I am more curious about everything that I can learn from you now as well and my journey actually had started not as a spiritual journey it started with trying to heal myself so I can heal my daughters from all the childhood traumas that I have any childhood trauma that they have from what their dad and I went through and that rule to the next thing and then the next and then the next which is what ultimately brought me to my spiritual journey and then my enlightenment so I’m glad I saw your ad and I’m excited to learn more
