Alan wilder is why DM used to be on another level. He was like an editor. He would tweak and tighten Martin Gore's music. The cherry on top. It's a real shame that the rest of the band members didn't appreciate him enough to keep him.

I hope so much that that's true, especially since I'd never have imagined Dave saying anything so positive in recent times. He used to talk positively about Alan, saying he wished that he'd have fought for him to stay; however, in more recent years, Dave's comments (esp. in an interview last year) indicated that he was sick of hearing about Alan and that people need to stop 'living in the past' 😔

@@grimlund i don't know who among them ever put that kind of idea - knowing among their influences is KRAFTWERK or synth-sty;e they should have stick with it...all these kinds of experimenting try to look and break like an alternative band with drum and guitar driven style definitely not living up to their style...probably they are going to that style to discredit with less synth driven style more on edgier sounds with guitars like SOFAD Alan last album with them.

Older comment here but I disagree about Fletch. I want Alan back as much as the next person but Fletch is one of the original members, even before Gahan, he and Martin are the reason why DM exists. And I feel like you have to give him credit for that. Without him the band would be nothing. I think it's easy to say, as a fan, that such and such members of the band should do such and such things but I also feel it's important to realize that they are their own people with their own wants and needs. DM obviously didn't appreciate Alan enough and I think it was fair for him to leave given the state the band was in at the time of his departure.
