They're not "making" a musical -- they already made it several years ago -- it premiered in 2018 and hit broadway the following year. It was nominated for 15 Tony awards!

She has a enormous talent for putting poetry to music. Exquisite voice. Her poetry is effective in getting you to think. Whether it’s a guy who dumped her or her journey into herself, it’s always honest. She lives and sings HER truth. You go girl!

There are some subtle undertones to the actual video that compliment the song as well. Notice how diverse the people in the parade and crowd are (cultures, ethnicities, age, etc.), yet the video is in black and white to balance it all out. Very, very well done all around.

The album felt like an anthem. I had just graduated from college when it came out. Could relate to what she was saying, and she was so honest about it. I didn't have a permanent job, my college relationship was ending, but there was still so much in front of me to be optimistic about. Alanis was a strong 90's female voice.

Alanis is Canadian, but was trained musically by a Quebec known singer, and was told at the end to just do what she wanted to do, and to be herself, and this is one of the results...

Welcome to being an 80s baby. This was my first album purchase and I still have it 29 years later. She rocks. On point with alot of lyrics and if you ever angry you could scream out to her lyrics. That's and Linkin park.

So glad you're checking out more Alanis! Another awesome Canadian singer-songwriter with a wonderful voice is Sarah McLachlan. She had so many hit songs, she won two Grammy Awards and four Junos, and she was also the founder of Lilith Fair.

If you love her voice,you need to check out "Uninvited".It's a slow song but she shows off her voice very well.There is a live version here on YT.She not only performs the song very well,she is backed up by an orchestra and the lighting and other effects add to the performance nicely.I highly recommend it to any of her fans.

@@kayelle8005 I was just going to reply to let you know that there are a few live versions of her doing this song.I don't know which one you watched,they are all good.The one I was referring to is the one that shows her from the back in the thumbnail.I think it says Sara KFT or something like that.Sara and some capital letters.It's pretty old,but it's the one that she is backed up by an orchestra.I'm not sure which version you watched, if that wasn't the one,you should check out the other one.

OH EMM GEEEE!!!! I looooove her!!!!! Jagged little pill is an amazing album in its entirety! Listen beginning to end. Some of her later stuff is beautiful! Jagged pill has a lot of her angst and anger. She was on “you can’t do that on television” in the early 80’s which was a kids show out of Canada on Nickelodeon. PLEASE do her song “thank you”!!!!! She has a GORGEOUS voice!!!!

I remember hearing this and other Alanis Morisette songs at the new job I got in 96, with many of my previous fellow employees from the place we used to work at which was shut down a few months earlier. Her songs were played frequently over the intercom system, along with a nice mix of Sugar Ray, Oasis, Smashmouth, and Cheryl Crow. Brings back good memories! If It Makes You Happy was the most frequently played song.

Alanis is my secret love of my 20s. I was so into her when she published her first album that she was one of the most important inspirations I had when writing music. The guitar here is something underrated but absolutely unique. I can't imagine any other song with that guitar timbric and tone. Masterpiece of mastering too.

I am 35 years old, (irl) and I grew up with Alanis as a 90s kid... there's something special about her... she is absolutely phenomenal as a lyricist, and the structuring of her songs. Despite this album being so full of anger, in contrast it has some of the most addicting songs of her career. She is still making great music today! And it is worth checking out. Can you check out her much newer video, "Reasons I Drink?"
