This bear has probably been near humans plenty of times, that's why you saw the mother get as close as it did in the first place. That's an insane amount of trust in y'all. Be careful pls

In fairness, the bears approached them. But still way too close for comfort. That camera would be scant protection against attack.

@@Rio_Toma no, bear attacks on humans are no joke, last attack I heard about was a man and daughter hiking they had encountered a pissed Off kodiak/grizzly , the dad attracted it while the daughter ran off to get help, the kodiak/grizzly treated the man like a rag doll, the only way he survived was falling off of the edge of a cliff to a ledge. Forget what his injuries were, but they were bad, but he did survive.

That looks very dangerous especially a sow with cubs , whos going to be overprotective of them, at that distance you drop your camera and get your bear spray ready , if that bear decided to charge you guys would have experienced a horrible situation.

The person with the cellphone out moving around to get pics is nothing short of an absolute moron, putting both of them in danger. What a momma grizzly views as a threat to her cubs is unpredictable at best, and ANY unnecessary movement could be viewed as such by the animal in an instant.

U are not doing these bears any favors by allowing them to lose their fear of humans. Hunters will have no problem downing these beautiful animals. The humans here are stupid and incredibly SELFISH!!!!!

Hi Mark. This footage was taken in Lake Clark National Park. There is no hunting in or around the park, so the Bears are under no threat from hunters. In fact, because they are not hunted, and because there are plenty of food resources for them, it is a unique ecosystem that shows the possibilities for bears and humans to have positive interactions.

@@jameydivietro6640 nonsense. The range of a grizzly is massive. Especially offspring. It's more likely than not some of those cubs will end up far away. Having them not afraid of humans is dangerous to both humans and the bears. Ask Timothy Treadwell. Oh wait, you can't. One of "his" bears ate him. Stop with "Bambi" Environmental activism. These animals deserve your respect not emotions more appropriate for a petting zoo.

@@markhernandez5264 Mark, have you ever been to Lake Clark National Park (where this footage was taken)? Or to Katmai National Park (where Treadwell was killed)? Based on what you've said here, I'm certain that you've never been to either. Both Katmai and Lake Clark are over 4 million acres EACH, which is over 6300 square feet EACH. Both are surrounded by the Cook Inlet on one side and huge mountain ranges on the other. No roads lead there, so boats or planes are the only way a human can get there. Which means that none of those bears have been hunted for generations, and none will ever be hunted. You mentioned Tim Treadwell. He did everything that you aren't supposed to do: He kept food in his tent, he purposely slept on bear paths, he would purposely approach the bears, and he would reach out and touch them. The fact that he lasted 13 summers before a hungry bear finally attacked him is a testament to how patient those bears are. In my situation in the video, there was a group of 5 of us hiking with a bear guide. We did everything we were supposed to. When we saw that mother grizzly and her cubs, we didn't approach her. We didn't turn and run because it would have been useless. Instead, we stood our ground and slowly backed away as she came near us. As you can see in the video, she was not aggressive in any way at all. Nor did she seem threatened by our presence the way a grizzly in the lower 48 would have. This is what makes Katami and Lake Clark so special. There are no other places like it in the world.

@@jameydivietro6640 Perhaps Treadwell made those mistakes but he still spoke the same as you. He justified his behavior the same way as you. It's childish, selfish and u should instill fear of humans in grizzlies. For their own good. Especially the cubs. This "Bambi" activism is dangerous for u and the bears. Treadwell's nonsense got that bear killed and had that mother attacked you MORONS she would have to be killed and the cubs spend their life in a miserable zoo or shelter. Total and complete selfishness and if you had any sense except your own twisted self gratification you would leave these beautiful animals be.
