Congratulations to Evelynn, it's amazing how fast she has moved up. I'm so pleased that Audrey was finally able to find something that worked for her. I always hated to see her suffer and miss out on fun. My wife apparently liked what you had on Alaskan Apparel this time because she told me to be watching for a very large package. God bless you all!

This past January we had a brief blizzard at 4 in the am as I was going to work on the interstate (I 55 near Chicago) and they weren't plowing or salting so cars were going 10 mph but semis were going 40 mph. The car ahead of me missed his exit? so he started backing up (ON THE INTERSTATE) into me with semis racing past us at 40 mph and I am on the horn continuously. What's wrong with people? My half hour commute took me 2 and a half hours. I decided to retire on that day, so I did. Last 2 days were in the 80's. I'm glad you are all safe.😊 Yay Evelyn!

Praise 👏 🙌 you guys safely made it to Anchorage through that storm. This year on Christmas eve I think was the most recent storm and then alot last year from Wasilla to Anchorage. We had so many trees down last year on our property. This year we got snowed in 3 times and last year 4 times. Alaska is hard-core especially if you live deep into woods away from town. Looks like you guys had a blast. So happy the patches worked for Audrey. ❤❤ Sending love from Wasilla Alaska, Tschandra

My worst snow storm when we lived in Anchorage was driving from Palmer to Anchorage in a complete whiteout. 3 cars stuck together because we couldn't see the sides, the road or past the front of our hoods. Scared to death I'd drive off the road. Really scary when a huge smowplowing truck buzzed by us. The Good Lord was with us on that day and I even wasn't late for work. ❤

I was traveling from my home town of Greybull Wyoming to Idaho Falls Idaho. About an 8 hour drive in winter. It was October. About an hour 1/2 out of town the sideways snow started and for the last 5 hours of the trip through the Rocky Mountains, I passed no one and no one passed me all the way into Idaho falls, the roads closed behind me. Not a sole on the road and I didn’t dare pull off except for gas in Jackson Wy. I made it home by 11:30pm. I can positively say the worst storm as far as road conditions go. So glad you made it❤

Wow Happy Birthday wishes, and congrats. I took my drivers test in the blizzard of 77 right out side of Buffalo, N.Y. That was entertaining! Can't believe they did that during a blizzard when the roads were so bad and no one could even get around. If you have time read up about that storm. It was really bad because of the high winds clocking up to 69mph. Rhere are a LOT of storms in the area that they are noted for, so not unusual, but this one came with no warning.

Typical Alaska weather....if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes, it'll be worse. My worst was in "95. I was in New Jersey making a delivery to Humanicare. It was white-out blizzard with 2 feet of snow on the ground, all the weather alerts saying to stay home. But of course, me driving a 53-footer had no choice. The customer was awesome, and they put me up in a Holiday Inn until the weather broke and I could make said delivery. I still owe Archie a bottle of something.

4:50 Talking about the atrocious road conditions: No, I have never experienced driving in such conditions, even when I lived in Germany in the 1970s when European winters were much colder and longer. We in Britain are advised by the government to always carry a blanket on board, because in northern England and Scotland the weather can get pretty bad with drivers having to spend hours sometimes in their vehicles. At least petrol and diesel vehicles can run the engine every so often to pump heat into the interior, but electric car drivers have to ration the battery and obviously not having a charging facility nearby if they sre stuck in a traffic jam.

When I lived on Cleveland, we had lake effect snow storms east of the city. You could go from sunshine to complete white out conditions in minutes. Downtown Cleveland at times would get three inches of snow, but east of town all the way to Buffalo, you could get 15-36 inches of snow, white out conditions with ten foot snowdrifts. I’ve seen trains heading west out of Cleveland where the lower 1/4 of the cars were all packed with snow, yet there was no snow on the western end of the city. The conditions you experienced were very similar to our lake effect.

once we were caught in a blizzard on I-90 in central Montana, while driving an old Toyota Camry with just all season tires. Total whiteout, big rigs jack-knifed , and it was at night... state patrol ended up closing the interstate at the little town of Big Timber, fortunately, we were able to score a hotel room for the night. Many people ended up spending the night in one of the local taverns.

The worst snowstorm I ever drove through was south of Confluence Pennsylvania several years ago. It was February, the roads were slick with ice, and the snow was kind of freezing on contact, and pretty much a white-out. The roads there are narrow with cliffs dropping a few hundred feet off the sides. I was having a hard time seeing traffic, and there was nowhere safe to pull over. I remember seeing a silver pickup truck suddenly emerge from the “fog” of snow…the driver looked as horrified as I felt seeing him, we barely missed sliding into one another. I finally reached a spot where the bank along the side of the road was wider, and I parked in that spot until the visibility improved a few hours later. I truly have never been so afraid while driving, and I never want to experience icing and poor visibility like that again! Glad you all survived your experience.
