Albert was the best at just pulling you into the song with him. I was lucky enough to I see him perform a number of times and man, that dude could play! He was the BEST! Seeing videos like this just really make me miss that guy so much , what a performer he was! THE master of the telecaster!

I remember catching an episode of "The Old Grey Whistle Test" about 50 years ago - Albert Collins was on it with some other greats I think Albert King might have been on it too. Whoever the others were, that blues jam speared me in my soul and I still can't get enough of the greats

Albert played the Minneapolis clubs like The Union Bar and the Cabooze about every 6 months c. 1979-1981. Saw him at least 3-4 times live. Always a great night.

I saw the Alligator 85 showdown with AC, Roy and Lonnie. Carnegie Hall no less. Albert was going for the gold, he took it. Played his living ass off. He won that night, but those other two will tear you up like paper. All 3 gone, damn!

I mean, he's too much. Too much. Being a drummer and checking out some of the drummers, you need one thing to work with this guy. Make the Stick MUSIC. There's a guy by the name of Bernard Purdy. 'Pretty Purdy'. He sings the drums. If he teamed up with Collins, I believe the Universe would explode. I don't know where music is going, but what is lacking is heart and soul. If soul was money, this guy would be all gold.

Say what you will about Soko Richardson as overplaying, but his skill and timing is immense. He is a very dynamic player - one of the best actually and his resume with Ike and Tina Turner as well as John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers proves it.
