A proper chair player was likely too expensive for them to hire and include in the band. It takes such specific training, I'm not surprised they're missing it at all 🤭

to me, the star of this performance has to be the drummer. After hearing this version i realize the original lacks texture on the drum department, the drummer's Interpretation maintains the track original vibe while adding a dynamic grove. i really enjoyed it!

@@intellikat the percussion in the original track is seemingly made with random sound effects(things that sound like a lighter igniter, a chair being dragged, etc). it's a novel concept but it doesn't really come together super well - the sounds are too disparate to sound as good as a regular drum kit and they're too repetitive and rigidly arranged to really take advantage of their unusual sound

Wasn't saying it sounds the same of course. Just said it could be, especially with this arrangement and how the chorus sounds! Its cool how you guys hear it different. You guys did slay. Kudos to the cameraman, I can see exactly how the drummer transcribed the percussions. Very easy-looking stuff, just sneak an extra snare in for the "chair" sound, really nice phrasing. A little sad he didn't dip his ride cymbal in water for a more liquid-y sound on it but I'll let it slide.
