Nope, because the pump broke and they couldnt afford a back up generator with all your tax dollars to get the water to the river 😂

Flooding in the desert is not good. The water doesn't sink in it pools and floods low areas. We had a friend get swept down a wash. He texted his friend to tell him where he was so they could recover him if he drowned. Luckily he survived.

ABQ has a unique system of concrete flood arroyos with catchments and basins. It is like a super efficient version of the L.A. channels. With floods like these, most of the damage is with debris deposits rather than inundation, and the river barely rises. High gusts also caused some additional damage in this storm. Meanwhile the catchments cause the aquifer to continually rise, the only aquifer under a major Southwest metro to do so.

IF I remember correctly back in the 60s, beginning at tramway and juan tabo and Lomas when it rained.... the water would rush down using Lomas all the way to the university and downtown area like a giant arroyo. How many times back then was Lomas Blvd knee high or higher near many major Lomas intersections. I thought the huge, deep, concrete arroyo waterways built back then was supposed to take care of the flooding after a big rain or snowfall. ???
