It was the second inning in a 1-0 game in the playoffs - umpire should have given him a warning and kept going. If someone was thrown out every time they showed displeasure with ball and strike calls, there would be no one left on the field by the sixth inning. A player like David Ortiz would never have been allowed to complete 80% of his at-bats. The problem is unequal enforcement. Why is it ok for a batter to shake their head and say a couple words, but not ok for a pitcher to bark for a few seconds? If someone gets in the face of an umpire that's a different story, but I fail to see how this is such a big deal.

I would refer anyone objecting to this ejection to Rule 9.02(a) of the baseball rules regarding arguing any umpire judgement call. It states: "Any umpire's decision which involves judgement, such as, but not limited to, whether a batted ball is fair or foul, whether a pitch is a strike or a ball or whether a runner is safe or out is final. No player, manager, coach or substitute shall object to any such judgement decision." There is a comment on the rule that states that a manager, coach or player can be ejected simply by leaving his position in the dugout or field in an attempt to argue.

First of all that is absolutely WRONG for the Red Sox dugout throwing water coolers and sunflower seed buckets at the umpires. Second, Clemens is on thin ice arguing balls and strikes; anyone is. The umpire did the right thing tossing him (Clemens).

Clemens, not Clemons. It’s in the title of the video and you got it wrong twice. Doesn’t get dumber than that

So is there like a certain way that they have to argue? It’s just weird how they all act the same way when they get into it like this 😂

this is a prime example as to why Roger Clemens should NEVER touch an inch of soil at Cooperstown, his mouth has gotten himself into more troubles than the PED stuff

Not sure if it was steroids, or not. Clemens is what you say he was, no question (regardless of what team he was on). But, then again, many of the best pitchers are just that. Or, at the very least, close to it.

Clemens was always a clown. He claimed he was yelling at himself. Just as dumb 10 years later when he threw a broken bat at Mike Piazza, claiming he thought it was the ball.

If Clemens had the accuracy to drill Piazza in the head with a ball then he definitely couldn’t hit Piazza with a bat if he wanted to. If you actually watch the video, Clemens doesn’t even look at Piazza. Also, when Clemens threw the bat why after slowing down did Piazza start to run again on a foul ball? Come back when you fill that empty skull with a brain

Why do you think they should? They're there to do a job, and that's to adjudicate a baseball game, NOT to put up with insubordination from players (whose jobs are to PLAY THE GAME) and managers (whose jobs are to MANAGE THEIR TEAMS).

There’s no roid rage here, that’s as passé as a knock-knock joke. Clemens has justifiable beef. What I want to know is what could he possibly have said, in a calm voice, to get himself booted? I mean....Mom joke? Little pecker joke?.... It’s at 1:29
