Based on all the reported circumstances of this tragedy, I'd say Baldwin never should have been charged in the first place. The woman who was responsible for the gun has been convicted. End of story.

@jackgunn1480 the props manager holds the lion's share of the blame but the producer knowingly allowing a lax set is as well. It is a shame that the prosecution felt the need to cheat because I wanted to see how the judge and jury decided the case based on.merit.

Alec is just as responsible as the armorer. Period. ANYONE who accepts a firearm in to their hands becomes solely responsible for said firearm, period! It was incompetence and complete negligence on his part. He deserves jail time, as much if not MORE than the armorer.

@@kanuduh5234 its a movie, and movie set ,he is an actor they use realistic props it was an accident. His job is to act the technical staff armorer etc are responsible for equipment. If there was a car stunt he was in and it blew up and a pc of shrapnel hit one of the crew would you think he was responsible ?And sometimes bad things happen and people get hurt or killed due to a unusual set of circumstances. lBefore long no one will produce anything or do anything with the slightest risk for fear of suit or jail time. I have a business for 30 years working on high places in construction. I am glad I 'm retiring because we have such a litigious society not worth it anymore the risk of law suit every year even though we take OHSA regs and precautions.

Did you actually read the relevant New Mexico law of involuntary manslaughter? The word accidental is specifically stated (for man slaughter charges). And yes, two people can have different levels of responsibility for a death. However I do agree that Mr. Baldwin, even if found guilty, should have received a suspended, or lesser, sentence.

Which I find confusing but like I said a lawyer actually said this . And I played it back a couple times to see if I heard that correctly.

@@qualicumwilson5168 and even if the New Mexico law does say that I’m saying it in principle. So I don’t care what some state law says. This is my personal opinion. If it’s reckless then yes. If it’s seems reasonable that someone would expect that a prop gun on a set mostly likely won’t have a live bullet in it especially when an armourer already supposedly checked it then it’s DEFINITELY not reckless.

He's also producing, and knowingly allowed live ammo on set, something against the movie standards. The inexperienced armorer was hired out of nepotism too, and he would have approved that as well. He bears responsibility on multiple fronts, not just pulling the trigger.

The movie had eight producers ...( producer finances the movie ) . Nobody knows how the live ammo got on set . The armorer was experienced ( no certification is needed for an armorer at this time ) the job on this set was keeping the guns/ammo secure , as in not loading live rounds , not really something you need a lot of training to do .

I am far from a fan of Baldwin. I think he is an arrogant self centred POS. But to allow this case to go forward absent any evidence of intent, would be an abomination. He had every right to trust that an armourer hired to specifically manage firearm related props would do her job. She didn’t and a tragic loss was the result. The right person was held to account.

It was a real gun that fired blanks. Actors know this. Blanks can kill if there’s projectiles in the barrel, regardless of real bullets. I do agree the armourer is the most guilty, though. Baldwin acted objectively stupid and careless.

This is disgusting. He was the producer and is getting off on a technicallity, when all the surrounding evidence still proves he was criminally negligent. He hired the terrible armorer against better advice because she was non union, he chose to not attend firearm training until last minute in a rushed capacity, and mutliple people had been walking off set for days due to safety reasons. Sure, he isn't really culpable for manslaughter here. But he's criminally negligent in a way that led to her death.

She hit that cop with her SUV and left him to die in the cold. She even Googled “how long for someone to die in cold weather” from her phone. And a witness heard her say “I hit him”. What part of this is his fault? It's whoever gave him the prop that is in the wrong and she was rightfully charged. It's the right decision this was dropped. He bears just as much responsibility as the armorer. You clearly know nothing about firearms nor the laws bound to them. Once you take possession of a firearm, you assume FULL responsibility of that said firearm. There's NO shifting the blame to anyone else at that point, ZERO. These rules exist to prevent this EXACT thing. The armorer was negligent and so was Alec. It was BOTH of them who failed to follow proper firearm protocol, it was BOHT of them who are responsible for the death of another human. Period! This clown needs jail time for his incompetence and negligence.

There are safety rules in place for this very reason- it requires ALL people to adhere to them to work. @TheInsaneupsdriver prop firearms are still real firearms and need to be treated as such....Baldwin has handled many "prop" guns In his time acting...any self respecting firearms owner knows you always check your firearms prior to use...the armorer left the live round in there but Baldwin opted not to check his weapon before using it....that's at minimum criminal negligence causing death...they went for the wrong charge....cops and prosecutors f'd up
