I know the new max module has this, but not sure if the mesh does. If you go into the utility section on the new module, about 7 items in when pressing the utility button is the drum mapping for the midi side. You can set it to gm or to use the same mapping used for the sounds that is handled internally when you play the pads. If you want to play general midi stuff with drums in it, you'll need to change that mapping so the drum sounds are mapped to the right notes on the module side.

I just put my Nitro Mesh 10-piece kit together yesterday. I played around with the sounds in the module, but mostly I'm using it to trigger drums in Cubase using some of the kits in their VST plugins, as well as kits in the EastWest Composer Cloud Collection. At best, I consider myself a competent drummer (guitar and keyboards are my primary instruments), so for laying drum tracks down in my modest studio, the combination of the drum pads and the VST software easily gets the job done!

I've picked up an Alesis Nitro module based on your reviews of it and I'm very happy with it. One question though - I'm running it through a DAW to trigger sounds from Kontakt, and on the snare I'm getting lots of retriggering, but seems like ONLY the snare. Is this a matter of needing to crank up the "Threshold" setting on the module for that pad, or do I need to think about replacing my simmons snare pad with an Alesis Mesh Snare for better compatibility?
@demonicsweaters
3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the Nitro's performance isn't great with 3rd party pads, and there's little adjustments to correct issues like this. Though I think there is a 'retrigger' setting no? Also, make sure you're snare isn't tuned too tight, the nitro seems to get finnicky if this is the case.

So I just got the Nitro Mesh Kit and I was trying to fine tune it. It looked like the RIDE cymbal does not have a "BELL" feature. Then I tried hitting the cymbal near the BELL area very HARD. I was able to get a bell sound by doing this. Have you ever tried this.... and if you did, do you have any suggestions to "tweak" it in the MODULE so I don't have to hit it so hard to get the bell?
@demonicsweaters
4 жыл бұрын
One of the rides has a bell, just turn up the sensitivity on that pad until it’s easier to make the sound. It makes no difference where on the cymbal you hit. It’s a single zone.

I INTEND ADDING EXTRA PADS AND HAVING NO SPARE SOCKETS ON THE MODULE I UNDERSTAND A STEREO SPLITTER CABLE CAN BE USED TO ADD EXTRA PADS. IF I DO THIS JUSTIN WILL I HAVE THE SAME SELECTED SOUND GOING TO BOTH PADS ON THE SPLITTER OR CAN I ASSIGN DIFFERENT SOUNDS TO EACH PAD ON THE SPLIT CABLE ? HOPE YOU CAN HELP JUSTIN - KEEP THE GREAT STUFF COMING ON YOUR CHANNEL MATEY ! BEST REGARDS - EDDIE ( UK ).

The module does actually have two extra inputs on it. All the tom inputs and snare are dual zone, so you could potentially split those to add more triggers, or just get some dual zone pads.

I would use the feature to run a couple of test loops and run them fore ever while fine tune a custom drum kit. Does it make sense?
@demonicsweaters

I'm not sure that would work. 1: you have to only be playing one pad to make adjustments to it. 2: I think the GM midi kit is a single kit that isn't the same as the Nitro kits (I THINK) I haven't actually tried running GM drums to it, so I'm not sure what would happen really.

I have question are the piezos quality much different in the nitro vs the higher line alesis kits
@demonicsweaters
4 жыл бұрын
Piezo is a piezo, I really don't think there's much quality difference of any on anything. But how it is implemented can vary from trigger to trigger. Even if you look closely at the snare trigger vs the tom triggers on the Nitro, you can see how they're different. The snare trigger has the piezo mounted in the center with 4 contacts touching the head (my guess is to keep it away from the rim piezo). Then the toms have side mounted piezos.

@@FLAMANGO12123 you can do so much to them. Go through all the sounds and adjust volume, sensitivity, reverb. He has videos on how to do this. And you can do that with every sound. Eye thought the kick was wack myself. But there are some great sounds in there. And a kick doesn't have to actually be a kick sound. Look around, play around. There's a sound for you in there.
