This is not a routine people scream during, if you're going to go to any kind of dance event please know that during these slower lyrical- contemporary dances especially you DON'T yell. It's disrespectful and distracting and should be saved for fun dances. The women were so annoying in the crowd during this it's nice that they were being supportive but shit.

In my mind, Alex is basically one of (if not THE) top dancers in SYTYCD history. The fact that he has reached this level from only 3 dances, just shows the extreme amount of talent that young man has. Though I would love to see him on SYTYCD again (just because it's so accessible to me), there are so many better places he can and will go. Best of luck to the boy and his shining career as a dancer! And I hope with all my heart that no injuries will fall upon him again.

some people do not understand the poetry of dance as Nigel Lythgoe tried to explain. the ones that kept screaming for alex did not understand this dance piece should have complete silence. such an extraordinary dance and fantastic Sonya Tayeh is the choreographer. my opinion the people who shouted out alex, alex had no reverence as they watched this and should have kept their mouth closed. every time i watch this i get mad at the shouters and if it was possible to remove them and keep the music on and complete the dance. even with this i still enjoyed the dance of allison and alex choreographed by sonya tayer will be in my top of the top danced.

im not much into the dance, but agree. HATE HATE with all my heart when I go to a concert and people scream for 2 hours non stop! At least in dance you can see, and shut down the screams in your mind, because you still can see the art. but when the art goes in thru your ears and these bunch of "sheep people" just dont stop for a second to actually understand what they are looking (hearing) at . For example, I waited years to finally see live Nick cave and the bad seeds. and people dont even shut up in the Piano ballads. it was the most disappointing concert i ever been. And Nick and the band were awesome. Art is not for everyone. Here we had Jeff Buckley wonderful interpretation of Cohen "Hallellujah" and the screams ruin it big time.

I stopped watching this show for quite a few years. After the massacre of little kids shattering my heart and making me really angry (over senseless gun violence yet again), mindlessly channel surfing last night I saw SYTYCD on the guide and decided to record it. So glad I did! The last dancers audition gave me some desperately needed inspiration after months of deep depression. Another dancer auditioned to ‘Get Out of Your Mind’ and I immediately flashed back to Alex Wong and Twitch, which in turn led me to Hallelujah with Alex and Allison. Of the seasons I watched, this one was by far my favorite! I was broken hearted when Alex ruptured his Achilles. I KNOW he would have won. Even though I lost interest in the show for many moons, Alex Wong forever left his mark on my soul!

The only number that had Nigel speechless for a few seconds. I thought the judges spoke with sincerity and clarity. This show has always been plagued with perfect technicians that were unable to emote and the result was the public tried to vote them out and the judges kept saving them over ballroom or hip hop dancers. Alex is the perfect technician who can feel the song. Contemporary dancers always start the season as favorites, they can mess up a hip hop or a ballroom number but the judges will save them but if a hip hop or ballroom dancer do not impress in a contemporary or jazz number, his or her fate is almost sealed.

When you watch a movie and you find something funny you laugh, right? You wouldn't wait until the end to laugh. It's the same with dance. By shouting, to some people, the audience is showing their approval, and as dancers we're expected to be prepared to be cheered for.

fair opinion. However, the thing people find annoying is the woman screaming and shouting. i think this piece is completely different to a funny moment in a movie, as this dance was meant to be haunting and twisted. of course i know its lovely to have the crowd cheer you on (in a controlled way, which this lady was not doing) but for this dance it would have made it even more incredible if the audience just appreciated the movements and the emotion rather than the competition part.

I've never been to a taping but I wouldn't be surprised (especially in the earlier seasons) if the producers encourage it to seem 'exciting'.
