His phrasing is like poetry... and his secret is that he isnt afraid to feel it when he plays.. unlike the morons who criticize his facial expressions because they don't have a clue as to what is going on...
@AlexLamia

Exactly.
@crowbars_up6049
6 жыл бұрын
People that criticize players' facial expressions have totally missed the point, you're right. Sounds coming from music aren't the same as sounds you make with your mouth in a conversation. Of course the facial expressions you make aren't going to be the same ones you would make when speaking.
@danteyoutu
5 жыл бұрын
Let’s be honest. These extreme facial expressions are not really necessary to play this way. They are very conscious and actually take some work and lots of practice. Think of Steve Vai. It’s the theatrical part of playing. Again, you might love them and other people don’t like them, that’s up for discussion and taste, but the fact is that they are not really necessary
@Dragonmastersservant
5 жыл бұрын
danteyoutu If you feel they aren't "necessary", you're right. When you're playing music with absolutely no soul, it certainly isn't necessary. 😂😂 You can't get sounds that feel like this without some sort of expression.

Anyone who criticizes guitar faces have obviously never played guitar worth a shit before. It’s impossible to feel your guitar playing without making some faces lmao, I can vouch this

I simply don't understand this. This guy is one of the most mind blowing players I've ever heard in my nearly 60 years of life on this planet, and yet, you rarely hear of him being mentioned in the same breath as the so-called "greats", some of whom don't have a fraction of his taste or chops, or even writing skills, assuming these are his own songs. He arguably has total command over every facet of modern electric guitar playing, and has tone to die for - yet most people, here in America anyway, go "Alex who?". What gives?????
@PEREGRINOMUSICLTDA

I second every word, space, comma and even the double spaces you wrote. He is absolutely astonishing. What a feeling!!!

He is really amazing I agree but in this world being awesome at somthing is veeeery different than being famous. Also, Alex as far as his career, he has not done much besides session playing and small projects (and teaching I guess). He does not have any important discography alone or in an important band. Maybe, that is his choice but that perfectly justifies the fact that he is not famous. It has notyhing to do if he is an amazing player or not.
@carloschaves2437
9 жыл бұрын
I used to feel the same but now I kinda like it that he's a "niche" artist, he gets to concentrate on what he does best, music, instead of stardom. He's happy and he makes us happy, that' enough for me (:

Alex is a refreshing modern player with his own voice and sound. He is my favourite new player and composer. I love everything he does.
@srinip

Bharathwaj Sv I couldn't disagree more. I'm very familiar with Guthrie, who is a great player no doubt. First of all, nobody at that level "plays better" than anyone else. Everybody has a voice they bring to the table. The point I was making is that Alex's chops, his taste and melodic sense are second to none. You may prefer a shredder who wanks with both hands all the time, but that hardly diminishes that value of another player who plays with more taste and restraint. For me, Alex can do it all, but seems to always play exactly what fits. It could well be his choice to stay where he is, but he could take America by storm if he wanted to.

@DerCorny It's a Japanese Fender Strat from the early Nineties. I bought it secondhand for £200 about seven years ago.I put some tokai pickups in there. A luthier called Terry Morgan refretted it and replaced the tuners with locking ones. After he had finished with it, it became a go to guitar. This was the first time Alex had actually played it. What a Guy! Jan from Jamtrackcentral.
