sometimes he wouldn't restrain himself so much and just be like "fuck y'all" and play as fast as he can because I know that's where his heart lies, he can hide it all he wants, and I'm sure he loves jazz, respects it, and when push comes to shove he's fantastic at playing jazz but you know it, I know it, and deep down he knows it too, he's not a jazz player he's a metal player and the sooner his educated side embraces his inner metal dude the sooner we get stuff like his solos on FOD \m/

I thought the same, I found he was forcing himself to be tasteful in this video, sometimes in videos I find he "over-tasteful-ify's" it (yeah I made that word up like a boss) in order to gain respect, and I fully understand that because a lot of people (albeit uneducated mother fuckers) believe all metal guitar players are unmusical shredders, so when I see him improv now a days it's almost like he's saying HEY LOOK WE AREN'T UNMUSICAL SHREDDERS!! which I have the utmost respect for I wish

Jazz is HARD to play and alex can do it.

I've always been an Alex Skolnick fan but this machine doesn't sound all that good. I have to also add, he is most definetely under the influence of a controlled substance. I've seen it many times, been there many times, and dude is tuned in.
