Thanks so much for this. I really needed it. Getting a deeper appreciation for the classic comics which I’ve never had before. Some books here I definitely need to seek out. Keep it coming and sobbed you.

Oh man! I would love those books! Thank you. You can see the influence of Sickles on Caniff when you look at the very early "terry & the Pirates". Caniff had a much more linear style at first. They shared a studio together when they both were starting out.

@@JSB1882 that’s right. Caniff was great, and was made greater by having Sickles around him.

He along with several others (Kirby and Buscema , Corben, Wrightson, and others)…Toth being my main influence as a character designer for animation many years ago..I did that for almost a decade before getting into film full time..and that education helped me understand simple volumes and how to get things to read…it’s how much you ingest the work to help you so you don’t become a clone …I grew up with that stuff..a friend of mine had access to the Hannah Barbera model sheets and made a book back in the early 90’s…By Michael Swanigan..good stuff here…I’ll have track down some of those books you showed…even if rare now…

the only artist I've ever seen who could do every shadow wrong and you'd never notice because the drawing was soooo good - was jack Kirby. he did it on purpose, like only a master could do.

It's not "wrong," it's called GRAPHIC DESIGN.

I like Erie and Creepy Toth.. some of the things you wanted us to see were out of frame. And please find better lighting. Just trying to give constructive criticism. Im subbing and looking forward to your content.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm learning as I'm going. I used the wrong video setting for this, and let me know what you think of my change for my second Toth video that I just uploaded.
