Love this video! Am from The Arkansas Ozarks which was originally popululated with Scottish and Irish descendents...our ancestors. The terrain is so similar that it's a bit eerie...but the rebelliousness and fire s ALL too familiar😉

Maybe this explains why my Frazier relative landed in Boston, USA, around 1650, as a prisoner he said The date has always seemed off, way too early for Culloden or the clearances. I'll have to look into this more. Thanks!

Quite a story and the mask is spooky. As for digging him up and moving his remains to a new burial site, I never understood the need to dig up bodies thatt were laid to rest hundreds and thousands of years ago. When your body is layed to rest it's suppose to be for all eternity. It just seems sacrilegious to did them and disturb their resting place. Anyway with that off my chest, thank you Robert for sharing that part of history. 🙂❤️

I’m from Cumnock and can say I’ve never heard this story in 40 year , so fascinating bob, the graveyard you were in on Barr hill road on they have been re wilding it , you should return in spring n summer it’s full of wild flower 🌺

I think he wore it while preaching so he wouldn’t be recognised while travelling. Someone said it may have been painted and I suppose that would fit if he was speaking to people from a distance. Cue clown nightmares 🤡

@@scotlandunplugged Whoever made the mask had gone to a lot of effort to make it realistic so I would be surprised if it was not painted. For one thing it would help him move around without drawing attention to himself. With the right tests it may be possible to find traces of paint, or at least some form of residue, which would answer that question.

Great stuff, really enjoying your posts !! My great Aunt did a heritage search and has found that my family is descendants of the Rose clan of Scotland and she got to meet and stay with Baroness Elizabeth at the Kilravock castle (near the village of Croy, between Inverness and Nairn, in the council area of Highland) for a couple of weeks about a year before Elizabeth passed. I still have some of her photo's. Beautiful country ♥ “The Hoof GP sent me”
