Even if business would not be the direct reason, it still became the main reason, because Eric thought Alex was not collabing with him anymore. Seeing the previously intended contest considered by Alex with Eric, she would also know it could affect Pogchamps. That's probably what Chessbae said. But I still feel both of them because they were constrained by this that led both of them not to defend each other.

@jedinxf7

@@inordirectional that's better than the alternative, and I was hoping that was the case, but honestly these things should have stayed private even if they discussed it. erasing the boundaries between a public figure's private and professional, public facing life is exactly the problem here. chessbae apparently was willing to ignore that boundary, but the victims of this norm erasure aren't only Eric and Alex and people like them who become susceptible to capricious abuses of power standing in the way of their careers. there's a toll on society and culture itself, a hit on human dignity, when we damage the consensus that some things are no one else's business. it sadly was allowed to happen in politics a few decades ago, and now we're in a world where every political appointment requires looking at high school yearbooks, and the halls of American democracy have to entertain a discussion over what the word "boofing" means. it's an ill wind that blows no one any good.

@@jedinxf7 This is all very noble-minded but I think you’ve got a hammer and are seeing nails, man. Calling someone out for capriciously abusing their power and transgressing into your personal life in order to defend yourself and take that person down, i.e. what Eric did to chessbae by publicizing this information, doesn’t someone damage society and make us more susceptible to people capriciously abusing their power and transgressing into our personal lives. And that aside, I don’t really agree with the premise that thoroughly investigating the claim that someone has a history of assaulting women before you decide to make them one of society’s most powerful moral arbiters is somehow an affront to human dignity: if that is the element we’re concerned with safeguarding then the best remedy would be moreso to not do things in private that would sound utterly undignified if aired in public than it would be to give people a pass to behave however they want in their private lives while reserving the right to avert our eyes whenever it’s most expedient to do so.
@jedinxf7
3 жыл бұрын
@@inordirectional my issue is not with Eric accusing Chessbae of being abusive and inserting herself into their personal life by threatening Alex's career opportunities if she let his 'brand' taint hers. The problem is the rest - talking about how it affected their personal relationship, be it friendship or otherwise (and the exact parameters of their relationship at the time doesn't sound like something Eric and Alex entirely agree on in their own public statements), talking about her actions and motives (even mildly sympathetically) and his own feelings about them, and ultimately giving us way TMI about the inner worlds of two friends and/or fuck buddies and/or former lovers at the time, is where I have a problem. no different than my problem with any other celebrity oversharing. they may not be Hollywood, but they're not our personal friends either. this willingness to eliminate a boundary between public-facing professional life, and private life, is undignified, and being the first to do it also puts the person with their side of the story untold in the unsavory position of needing to choose whether to further overshare or have someone else's version of events stand as the public record. both choices suck. Eric didn't need to give nearly as much detail as he did, or talk about all his and Alex's personal drama, and could have left out the juicy details. but instead here we are consuming the juice. it's what people are here for, and he knows it, and Alex knows it too - but that reality right there is exactly the commodification of the personal that I'm talking about. fair enough re: the Kavanaugh example. I should have used one where the questions at issue didn't potentially involve violence. did the world really need to know what color dress Monica Lewinsky was wearing, or where Bill Clinton inserted a cigar? Does anyone really believe even more specific sexual queries should have been asked of Bill Clinton to force him to either perjure himself or humiliate both of them, and their families (as Kavanaugh argued at the time, working with Ken Starr! Karma's more vicious than any moderator)? Is that the America we need? legal behavior of consenting adults used to be something political journalists didn't debase newspapers with. it was only a few decades ago that this norm was turned on its head, and now the private is political, and the more prurient, the more salient. It's made for a much less dignified and much less serious discourse I didn't really want to overemphasize political culture though. this affects us in much more fundamental ways. parents uploading a chronicle of every private and personal detail of their baby's development for consumption by 10,000 internet semi-strangers are part of the same decaying privacy norm. people curating their online existence into a public persona full of snapshots from their private reality end up sacrificing a lot of the authenticity of a real private life. we should not encourage this.

The thing is Alexandra Botez is an oppurtunist, if you are following the chess world since a long time you know she will grab any oppurtunity to grow her channel by copying content of other successful channel or any content she sees growing. Her twitch or youtube channel was nowhere to be before . She used to regularly stream with the chessbrahs. Now from last year after covid chessbae and hikaru decided to create pogchamps after sudden rise of chess popularity all over world. Chessbae decided to rope in alexandra as an attractive female draws more audience. The condition for her involvement was to cutoff from the chessbrahs. Alexandra was also given oppurtunity to be in ESPORT team just like hikaru, even when she has 0 talent in chess as compared to some other streamers. Now if you see since last year the most grown channel's in chess community are Hikaru,Botez,Levy,Anna and Nemo, all backed by chessbae. Therefore I think Eric being angry is very much justifiable. His channel was most affected, nobody was standing by his side plus he got a copywrite strike when things are starting to go again in his favour again.

Alexandra the two main issues that you seem to be bothered about are what people post on Eric's site......you of all people should know that you don't have any control over what people say or don't say, type or don't type. To level that against Eric as a reason for distancing yourself IMHO is weak ..... and that is putting it mildly. Eric is the one who has been thrown under the bus here, copyright strikes and the threat of losing his livelihood etc, and now it looks like his friendship has been injured at some level with you, whether you were or were not an item, how do you think things will go with the Chessbrah's in the future? Especially after this response........? It took real courage for Eric to say what he said, warts, bumps, farts and all and I for one applaud him for it. His honesty is apparent and real, others......not so much......Eric said there was a chance of you getting back together, that things were better, he didn't say you were back together. Also, how do you know what Chessbae said to him, you weren't there, Eric was and what she said ...... she had no right to say!!! Have you seen how much support Eric has received from everyone right across the board? Have you seen that chessbae is no longer associated with Chess.com? Hikaru???....his stock right now has plummeted to an all time low and it is a salvage operation even as we speak!!! He tried to do his own talking and in my opinion, just dug a deeper hole for himself, you can tell he is lying, a blind man at 2 in the morning could see that!!!! and universally he is not liked by fellow GM's ( Eric and Ben Finegold say ) and you yourselves had to post an apology to him......yeah, right!!!!! Hikaru has several personality problems and they need to be addressed and it seems on many levels that they are, however, people see through this kind of B.S and he needs to have a long, hard look at himself and eat a little humble pie, then things will be rosy in the garden again, or will they? You say that what other people were writing "multiple times" was a reason for distancing yourself from Eric......I don't buy that, maybe you are extremely sensitive to what others are writing and if you are in the public domain you should have a thicker skin than that.... (you yourself have posted that a guy walked out on you when you went to the toilet for goodness sake!!! ) In no way am I condoning what others have said on Eric's site, it is disgusting, it truly, truly is, but, unfortunately though, it does come with the territory........there are just some unsavory individuals in the world but, hey, what can we do about it? Wish they wouldn't post the things they do but they do and if Eric didn't stop it when he could have then he is guilty as charged, but still, that is way out of order as a punishment as to what could have happened to him!!! He could have lost the lot!!! It is a question of scale here and Eric and the Chessbrah's had more to lose than any others involved in this saga....... You say you weren't in a relationship with Eric, yes you were, a business one at the very least with a little bit of affection and attraction thrown in....seeing where things went and in your private discussions he told you exactly what he thought of Chessbae and Hikaru, that they are assholes etc and was wanting you to side with him not them....is that about right? I can understand the short term separation and not abandoning him etc, but look what has happened to the two other characters in the story. Hikaru has videos of him pissed out of his face fighting with Eric, stories of the Ginger GM punching his lights out etc, they are both (Chessbae and Hikaru ) assholes as far as I am concerned and you backed the wrong horse Alexandra, you backed the wrong horse. In some ways you are a victim here, caught up in friendly fire but if I was Eric after seeing this response.........it would be a long day and a short day in hell before I would collaborate with you again, just saying. You seem to be more interested in how you are portrayed in this arc of a story than the consequences that he could have and in fact was suffering. The copyright strike removal and Chessbae's removal seems to vindicate Eric and no one else. Who knows the real truth about what shit went on in the background, we will never know, but I am glad that the Chessbrah's will be around for a while yet and I hope the other two get what is coming to them, what goes around comes around and lying manipulators are always found out........... In your response you highlight Eric's drunken post, there was no need to do that to vindicate your behaviour, no need at all. He apologised to you ...... good enough. Hikaru? Chessbae? apologise? If they did the world would stop spinning and we would all fall off!!!! They have never apologised for anything in their lives, they are false and manipulative while Eric on the other hand, while defo no saint, at least, at the very least he is honest........ I hope it is all resolved soon and wish you and Andrea more success in the future. The Chess world is all the better for having you both in it...........but it is also all the better for having the Chessbrah's too!! Go easy on Eric, he is one of a kind and you more than anyone should know that!!!!

It really looks like she's trying to find a way out and in the meantime keep Hikaru's side. Bad. I mean, after all this the guilty boy becomes Eric because he didn't see (or pretended to) some stupid people's comments on her in his chat? Come on. Nobody's perfect and Eric never pretended to be, but it's more than understandable to be upset if someone acts like she did. Personal relationships of any kind should always be above professional ones, if they're important.

Maybe this is just me personally. But no matter how angry I am with someone, I would never allow misogyny to perpetuate in my domain. The fact that Eric allowed it to happen should be a dealbreaker, at least in my eyes. Hence, I am firmly on Alex’s side on this one.

Imagine what Chessbae would have tried to do to XQC if she was one of his earliest investors / mods. That is the battle we truly deserve to see lol.

So hikaru was wrong about the copystrike but she also said that when she was in the chessbrah chat and they were saying misogynistic comments and also bad comments about hikaru and eric was allowing it it seems like both parties have their flaws and eric should not have made this public knowing the bad thing that he has done too this seems like a bad situation for both sides and i hope they can resolve it very soon and i feel beed for alex she got dragged in for no reason

one thing i hate about twitch streamers is that they cant keep perosnal issues to themself they just spit it out to public viewers. And thats what makes toxicity even more because this worlds community cant live without choosing saids and being rude. If you disagree with me and write something rude in the replies ill just ignore (saying it now)

Sounds like a difficult situation for both of them. Alex was caught between a rock and a hard place. But what interests/infuriates me most is what they agreed upon: chessbae did issue an ultimatum.
