Some of his solos are quite messy and you only realize it after listening to Pual Gilbert solos etc, I imagine that if Alexi wasn't a heavy drinker he could've been one of the best guitar players of all time. But hey. touring is hard and that's the reality of it.

When i was young and started to listen to metal i heard some of cob songs but i just listened to them once. When alexi died i started again and i dont know how i didnt realize his genius guitar work then but he was one of very small group that no one will mimick. Even to this day im thinking how he created those riffs and this is beyond my mind. Masterpiece

What a terrible waste of a beautiful and entertaining talent. I saw them years back on Megadeths GIGANTOUR and he was so fucked up his hindrance of play was noticeable. Sad. He was so exciting to listen to.

Alexi Laiho to me is the definition of what can happen when talent works hard. Really fucking hard. I've read his biography and seen almost all of his interviews on youtube because I am a massive fanboy and what he has always said is that when he was young he basically played guitar 8h daily. Sometimes more, of course sometimes he might not play that much or maybe he even missed some days. But the point is that he worked extremely hard to achieve the skill level he got to.

When i was 13 and I was learning to play guitar I listened to so much Bodom hoping that one day I'd be able to play like Alexi. 20 years later, I'm pretty good, but still nowhere near what he was able to do at 21. He was so underrated even in the metal scene. I still cant believe that he died. Not many artists can put out 4 albums back to back that are amazing. They had so many decent songs and so many of them were so complicated to play, even by today's standards.

Nobody could have written that bodom beach terror solo. Like nobody alive or dead. In fact, most of his solos probably. Just such a unique way of thinking about music. Fucking legend, rest in peace!

EXACTLY! The solo from Bodom Beach Terror has a straight up "80s" influence to it, that hits you right in the gut. Fits that song so well, and I think it's the best solo on that album.
