Michael takes after his dad. it's funny how Blanche, is describing Michael's future, as Stan. then there's Stan at the door, and the audience is laughing at him.

I feel like Blanche is the MVP here bc shes the one who pushed Dorothy into seeing that she needed to force Michael to grow up, AND forced Rose to stand up for herself at work. She was definitely the voice of reason in this episode

I'm guessing she was also talking from experience too given how estranged she was from her own children she likely learned from the mistakes she made with them

I do wish Dorothy would have said to Michael how are you going to support your family aka his wife and child also we never found out if they had boy or girl. Plus Michael became 30yo in just a few years. Remember he's 23, your 44.

To be fair, my mother was several years off about my age for much of my adult life. When I would correct her, she'd usually say either "that's even worse" or "close enough."

Sitcoms didn’t really care about continuity back then. Lots of actors playing different roles in the same shows, and Frasier Crane saying in Cheers that his father was dead and he ends up being a major character in his own spinoff. Lots of funny examples.

Dorothy was right about those old-school Obsession commercials. They were so random and nonsensical.

This episode is one of the reasons why I never cared much for the Mixed Blessings episode. Its almost like Lorraine's family and the baby were just retconned out of existence when the "Guess Who" plot device ran its course, and it makes me wonder if the writers even remembered all the details of that episode when they brought Michael back.

@@rainbowunicorn709 Lorraine is mentioned but not the kid they share - if you're just watching the episode out of context you'd assume that Lorraine was just some generic wife character and not much else

I forgot about this episode but the funny thing is I remembered a few select moments from it. When Dorothy started talking about the obsession commercials I could basically quote it on the spot. As for Michael whenever he shows up the mood just kind of goes down for me. He already comes across as spoiled and self centered most of the time. I can't think of one time when he was on screen and I was happy for more than a few seconds. This is only to speak specifically about the character and not the actor. I am sure the actor was doing the best he could with the material he was given. The character just isn't likable unfortunately. So this is an episode that I would rarely go out of my way to watch. Good job on your reaction and keep up the good work! 😊

Aw man, for a second I thought this was for the movie "All That Jazz"!!! Definitely put that on your list; great movie! (Not that the Golden Girls aren't great!)

Nice reaction, Alexxa. I thought it was funny when Sophia pretended to agree with Dorothy over Michael and sneakily gave him money. Grandparents spoil the children, so that's why she gave it to him.

I kind of made up my own headcanon for their marriage, but it was very sad. Since Lorraine was older, I thought the possibility of a miscarriage was pretty high and maybe their marriage fell apart after that and Michael just didn't have the maturity to stick with it and work it out.

This episode was always frustrating for me, all because of how Michael's character regressed so badly. If he behaved this way in his first appearance when he was still single and in his 20s, that'd be different, but HERE - he's 30, married AND HAS A BABY. I've got no respect for people like that. To think, the last episode Michael was in, he was so mature (or at least more so than he was here) and ready to become a father, and he and Lorraine were so in love, and defying all those naysayed their marriage. Now it feels like Michael is proving his mother-in-law right, albeit not for initial reasons she had in the first place. This episode is very tragic when you look at it from the POV of Lorraine.
