This story hits so hard for me. Dorthy had every right to say that to the doctor. I have issues that are scary for me, and instead of help I get, “you are lying.” Doctors really don’t care about you if you are a woman. Anyhow I wanted to tell you that the Doctor Harry is from a sister show of Golden girls called Empty nest. It was a fun show too.

Seeing Dorothyread the doctor in such a clear and eloquent manner and even pointing out that if she was a man she would have probably been treated with more respect was fantastic and of course leave it to Sofia to steal the show at the end

I love Dorothy's speech to the doctor, which was deserved, because he dismissed her in a way the other doctors didn't. He could not find anything wrong, so she had to be faking it. Also, Sophia and Rose were very supportive, I wish Blanche had been more supportive too, but they made her only think about her book almost until the end.

The show's creator Susan Harris actually struggled with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome around the time the show was on the air and I think this two-parter was written with that experience in mind. For a while, I thought that Dr. Bud's wife who tells him to shut up was Harris in a cameo (it's actually Bibi Besch).

I have a somewhat similar story. I kept passing out and no matter how much I slept I couldn't feel energized. My mother kept insisting I wasn't sleeping enough but nothing I did seemed to fix it. Finally I went to a doctor with a friend. All of my friends knew there was an issue. The doctor performed several tests on me and found out I had b12 anemia. While not an uncommon disorder it's never the first thought most people think of iron deficiency or CFS with my symptoms. They were almost the exact same as Dorothy's. I started taking b12 supplements and while I still get winded sometimes my life has gotten much better. The lesson here is keep trying and if you look long enough there will be an answer.

I'm not a doctor myself, but watching this episode a while back really has some impact on how I conduct my profession - listen to the students more, be more attentive, and convince them it ain't the end of the world if they are not good at something. Young adult learners would probably dismiss anything we have to say, but anything to make them feel better about themselves when the world do not, would forever be my calling. Heaven knows how hard I tried to convince myself I'm good enough when some think I don't, worse - I myself - don't.

Regarding my rare chronic condition...I had a doctor that REFUSED to do some tests on me. My family doctor (the one that´s a specialist in rare conditions) had to go himself and meet him to ask him to do them...yet he didn´t. By the end my doctor just told me that waht happens with patients like me are either 1 of 2 things: 1. They just don´t believe you and of course don´t care or 2. They know there´s nothing left to do so they just leave as a lost cause.

@@AlexxaReacts Thank you. If I´m one of the few that has this condition as isn´t documented is one thing. Of course the same if I´m the only one that has it. But what I´ll always carry with me is the fact that the doctor never completed the studies. So I´ll never know if having done that he´d found something. The comparison I make is this: Imagine if I left, let´s say a set of keys in my house. I ask you to go search for them. You do and tell me they aren´t there. However, you didn´t check one room. Let´s say because you forgot (or in this case you didn´t want to). Then, how come you can tell me for a FACT that they weren´t there? Maybe by coincidence I had left them some place else and I find them there...but what if they were actually in that room? Then you can´t tell me for sure the weren´t.

I enjoy every time I i tune in for one of your videos. I smile, laugh, and cry right alongside you every time. Thank you for deciding to make a reaction channel on KZitem and sticking with it for as long as you have. My Mondays aren't complete without my Alexxa uploads ❤ That being said, the highlight of this episode for me is delirious Blanche. The way she is so over the top goofy but still believable as Blanche is top tier acting. Then when Rose claps back for her disrespecting farmers is gold. If I could only give Dorothy MVP for one part of this episode, it would be part 2. The dinner scene in the restaurant is my second favorite monologue from Dorothy, with her telling Stan off all the way back in episode 2 of season 1 being my #1 favorite. That being said, I would give Sophia MVP in last episode because of her telling off the doctor who said Dorothy was functionally and mentally impaired instead of sick. This season is probably my favorite overall for character moments and writing but don't worry, season 7 is also gonna ve phenomenal. I hope you have tissues because that finale will break you just like it did so many of us. ❤

I bet Blanche was writing a romance novel. The reason why I believe her novel was incoherent (other than the fact she is practically an amateur writer with no writing experience) was due to the fact she was awake for 72 hours while writing it. If she thought egg yolks were sunshine in a bag I can just imagine how chaotic her book would be. Even so, I would have read it if it was real 😂. Also, rejection letters are common in writing world so even if her book was good it is likely it would have been rejected. For example first Harry Potter book was rejected by many publishers before the right one accepted it and it became a hit.

@@radicalreactions1633 Yes, because she's assuming doctors as a whole by her statement. I'm not talking about the clearly sexist attitude he had toward her, I'm talking about the generalized statement she made about doctors losing their humanity, etc. because Harry Weston certainly didn't portray this assertion when he helped her, or the doctor he referred her to.
@DamonTorro

when Dorothy asked how the doctor lost his humanity, considering how many cases a doctor need to tackle a day... and some of them being made-up, hysterical patients, I won't doubt that the majority of veteran doctors would have lost their genuine feeling of wanting to care for their patients, the drive that they originally might have... I think we have too few of doctors to care for the never-ending patients. We all know humans have limited patience, and mental fatigue can build up very fast when having to care for other humans every day. I'm afraid most become numb and don't care anymore. (and of course, there are those who work as a doctor not for the patients, but for the income)
@radicalreactions1633

BS. Where's YOUR DATA to prove what you state? Doctors, of any age, NEVER HAVE THE WANT TO CARE especially for women. Violins, i they don't want to deal with the "mental fatigue" then don't go into the MEDICAL FIELD, but stop blaming the patients. They get PAID VERY WELL TO NOT CARE "FOR OTHERS," stop acting like it's an unpaid burden like being a domestic slave (I mean, your wife). They NEVER cared, and neither do you, so stfu. ALL of them work for the income, stooge.
