In this recording, I would like to return to the Polish vacuum cleaners from the "Alfa II" (or "Alpha II") series from the Rzeszów Household Equipment Factory. I have devoted at least three previous recordings to devices of this type. This time I will show the oldest of them, the "Alfa II" vacuum cleaner from 1959. It is factory-equipped with an imported engine manufactured in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) by the VEB ESGO factory in Oppach. The abbreviation VEB stands for Volkseigener Betrieb in German and it can be translated as "people's factory" - during the communist period it was a common institution of state-owned industry. ESGO is an abbreviation for Energietechnik und Schaltgeräte Oppach - the name of a factory dealing in the production of devices in the field of energy technology and switches. The town of Oppach is located in Saxony, near the border with Poland.
The "Alfa II" vacuum cleaners were produced in an almost unchanged form from 1958 to around 1970 by the Household Equipment Factory in Rzeszów, Poland (in 1967 renamed the "Zelmer" Household Equipment Factory).
