I own a Rosso Competizione 4C coupe with the center dual pipe Titanium Akropovic exhaust and it's amazing. I made some mods as soon as I bought the car. Upgraded the ecu to pump out about 280 HP. It made a very noticeable difference. I completely removed the entire center console and had someone wrap it in black leather with red stitching to match the cars interior. It looks completely OEM and made a night and day difference over that cheap plastic look. Also added some carbon fiber bits here and there. Great car and it snaps necks everywhere I go. Future collectible IMO.

I definitely didn't mean to imply that Alfa copies other car manufacturer. I think they all get inspired by each other, but Alfa has a very rich history of their own designs. That's part of what makes a true Alfa. I was, however, still pleasantly surprised to see that the 4C was designed completely in-house by their very own Alessandro Maccolini. I thought for sure Pininfarina or Bertone had had a hand in it, but not so! Alfa is definitely a marque that inspires!

The 4C is a no nonsense no compromise car. It relied on simplicity and weight savings while also being a true driver's car: no assists, no power steering, simple gear shifting, simple cluster, it has no comparison even with the Elise/Exige. It's virtually on a different league of small sports cars.

This is probably one of the best reviews I have seen of a 4C. Could have spent a bit more time showing performance of the car which is excellent. It is not a GT but a true sports car. I have a 2015 Launch Edition I bought new. Better tires and a different alignment (0 toe in front) make it much better. Stock it will do 4.1 seconds 0-60 mph and low 12 second quarter mile.....but despite that performance (thanks to its light weight) it gets really good gas mileage. Yes it has limted trunk space and is a two seater so if you want more space or more seats....get a SUV. But you wiill miss out on a truly fantastic car. One point I disagree with....it might be tight for the passenger if they are tall or larger in "girth", but my 6'1" son and my shorter wife and other kids have hno problems and we have gone on some longer trips with it. I am 6' also and on the thin side.....it fits me perfectly and comfortable to drive even with its Race suspension upgrade. I did adjust the driver seat using the positions provided....tilted the front of the seat up a bit. It made a huge difference in comfort. Oh....by the way they have been very reliable and bullet proof if you like to track cars. The last ALFA I had was a 1969 spider that I also bought new and kept for over 40 years. If I had the garage space I would still have that car in addition to the 4C....but if only one.....it would be the 4C.

The 4C is incredibly unique and amazing in almost every way! With regards to the space issue in the passenger seat, I think it comes down to size. Apparently, one more time! :D Maybe, this time will be the last... I wasn't aware that you could turn that sound down. I'll have to find that setting right away! I think it's very possible to do Road Trips in the 4C - but probably more so if you're younger and not quite as tall as I am. At 6'4" (192cm) I fit OK in the driver's seat, but I would say that it's comfortable for longer periods of time. The passenger seat is a no-go. My legs get smashed by the dash. Also, the stiffness of the suspension wears on the body for longer stints. Not that I'm complaining about that - the suspension is great! The lack of luggage space also rules out weekend trips - at least if I'm bringing my prettier half. For me, it's just not a road trip car - but it is awesome for more fun and performance based drives!

In the old days (when I was younger too), I would have agreed with you. And certainly, a 4C with a manual could be an exciting experience. However, in my opinion (and it is just an opinion), I like the current transmission and I think it fits the car well. I can do basic heel and toe shifts (and used to do those when I tracked my Porsche 944), but the DCT in the Alfa and the paddles instantly make me a MUCH better driver. And I'll never get tired of hearing the awesome downshifts, available sd libitum with a flick of my finger :D

I have a 2000 model 911 and I have thought about trading into a 4c, but I have never pulled the trigger on it. I think the 2 seats, lack of manual, and small power numbers keep me from doing it. I hope you enjoy your sports car!!!
@cadreamdrives
2 жыл бұрын
The 911 is a completely different beast. It is infinitely more practical than the 4C and much easier to use as a daily driver. But in my very humble opinion, a 2000 911 and a 4C aren't even in the same league in terms of fun. It's impossible to drive a 4C without getting a giant smile on your face. The transmission, for me, is a non-issue. The DCT in the 4C works fantastic, and I'm a much better driver with that, that I would be in any manual. The power numbers don't mean much either. The 4C will always feel quick (because it is), and I'm fairly certain it will beat a 2000 911 in pretty much all driving circumstances. Two seats is definitely an issue in terms of practicality. For most, the 4C will be a weekend car. None of this is a knock on the 911. They truly are amazing cars. But you owe to yourself to try a 4C. You might just want to pick one up after that... :)

Terrific review. Very accurate and fair. You can always rely on Alfa design to be jaw-droppingly original. But then, if it's an Alfa it will always come with some sort of serious drawback: terrible driving position, only enough space for a bag of peas; reliability problems, rust (in the past), etc... - But this is what makes them human and thus wins our hearts. The engines are superb (I have a 3.0 V6 GTV); they punch way above their weight - while looking like a supermodel. 😎

Note...a lot of Italian cars have what they call the 'Italian Ape' driver problem. Apparently designed for a shortish person with apparently longer than average arms. That's shorter than a usual Texan, and for a person who likes to drive with straight arms, as per a conventional Race Car. Which is actually the best way to steer any car, as no-one is supposed to: - cross your arms, or drive with a single hand, or drive bolt-upright over the wheel. It's the most efficient way to drive, the circulation in your arms and hands is that way best served, and it's the Safest.

I was in love with my Giulia and Alfa Romeo as a brand, however, I will never again buy/recommend another Alfa Romeo in my life. I had the brake by wire system fail on me and it caused me to crash and total the car. They sent someone from Bosch to diagnose the vehicle and in the charts it clearly showed that something malfunctioned (brakes were slammed 2 seconds before the impact at 40 MPH and it took more than 1.5 seconds for the speed to start going down.) Also, after having had various discussions with other people, it's come to my attention that they should not have sent someone from Bosch to diagnose my vehicle because they did not design the braking system. Which means that not only is alfa/stellantis designing crappy vehicles, but they are also shady af! Anyways, stellantis told me that they were not going to take responsibility for it and that I needed to have my insurance pay for the vehicle. Absolute garbage. I will never recommend this car brand to anyone again! Buy an AUDI, BMW, Mercedes or literally anything else instead!!!

How’s the Alpine screen? Have considered one for mine, among others.. Any change in sound quality? I currently have the Parrot(?) one.. 😊
@cadreamdrives
2 жыл бұрын
I like the screen for its functionality. Everything seems to work great, and having the backup camera is a huge upgrade and extremely helpful. It also does Apple Car Play, and the phone integrations works great. Unfortunately, I can't tell you much about the sound. The previous owner did the upgrade in my car, so I don't know what it sounded like before. But I do know that it sounds HORRIBLE now. To the point where I get angry at the system when I try to play music :D They put in a subwoofer in the passenger footwell as well, and for the life of me, I can't figure out how they got it all to sound so bad. I'm guessing there is something that isn't set or installed quite right, but I've been playing around with all the settings I could find, and the sound only ever gets tolerable. I don't think any of that is the Alpine unit's fault, but because of that, I can't really guide you on the sound.

I reckon the carbon fibre tub plays its role to don’t make the sound good, I don’t think it had as a good acoustic abilities. In fact, every time I hear a noise, I can’t tell where is actually coming from.
@cadreamdrives
2 жыл бұрын
@@manni8180 That's a good point. I've actually noticed that it's difficult to pinpoint "noises" from inside the cabin as well. However, I do think the awfulness of the sound system goes beyond just the carbon fiber tub. I had transistor radios in the 80's that sounded better than the speakers in the 4C :D

@@Alex-dz6xw Thank you! If you are thinking about getting one, I’d definitely recommend you try it out. The space depends a little bit on how you’re built as well (legs vs torso). I wouldn’t want to do a 10 hour road trip in the car (but that’s not just because of the seating position), but it’s fine for fun drives. My only issue is that there isn’t enough space for me to wear a helmet, so no track usage.
@Alex-dz6xw

@@cadreamdrives yes the build is also important. I have big legs for example. But 1.92 is 1.92 haha. If you feel ok I should too. Also yes, you cant sit there for many hours...the car is tiring overall, not just the position. But that's the car's character and nature. It not meant to be for daily driving or long trips. It's the raw sports car feel and the pure driving experience that it offers. And that's what people love about this car. Again, thanks a lot !!!

I think that all depends on your perspective. $60k (or in some cases, $45k) is not a trivial amount of money by any stretch - but when compared to what cars at this level generally go for, the 4C is definitely a bargain! You get so much for your money, compared to other cars.

Stock tyres were not great, driven mainly by journalists who are not great drivers. All racing drivers rave about them on track and in mountain passes - where and from whom it matters. That being said, by minor tweaks it becomes a serious weapon. I fitted different tyres and fettled with alignment and front geometry and cut 3s of laptime on an average track. It is meant to be on the edge and exhilirating. You have to know what you are doing. Not as easy as an expensive supercar like a Lambo or Fezza to track, but so rewarding if you get it right.
