What an inspiration it must have been to hear this "Song of Sunshine" played in December at the end of such a disastrous year! And played so very well too, expressively and faithful to the composer's indications. I do recommend to anyone who likes the music of Hollins that they read his autobiography, "A Blind Musician Looks Back". It is so readable and so informative about a musical world now gone, as well as describing how life is lived by a blind person. Hollins makes the observation that his music is orchestral in its intent, and we observe that in this piece. Indeed it would be good to have it transcribed in an orchestral score.

Beautiful. Very musical and relaxed management of a large instrument. 😇

It's a great piece, although I do find that it has its (very) tricky moments. Love this video - hope you'll post more by Alfred the Great!

Thanks! Indeed, there are some really tricky corners, but it's so fun to play!

I recently bought this piece, haven't yet looked at it though. There's a really lovely Scherzo in A major too which I'm planning to look at too 🙂

It's trickier than it sounds! The articulation is probably the most fiddly thing, once it's up to speed.

@@contraposaune yes i noticed that, very notey and full hands like Whitlock! I'll get around to it, maybe this lockdown...!
