Phillip Sear plays a 1910 march by the Belgian composer (Henri) Alfred Kaiser (1872-1917).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know little about Kaiser's life, except that he was born in Brussels, studied with Bruckner, died in Bournemouth, England, and had an opera called 'Stella Maris' premiered in 1913. I'm not sure of his birth name, but, for obvious reasons, he changed his name to Alfred de Keyser during the First World War.
I'm not sure if this piece is part of a larger work - I played from an early 20th century collection of 'high school marches'! I'm not sure if the 'captain' is an army man or a sailor (I have assumed the latter in my thumbnail illustration).
