Thanks for doing all this work for us. I'm learning piano at age 56 and I'm loving it and I'm loving the way you are quite strict sometimes about the importance of knowing the notes and of finger discipline - I'm really enjoying your videos and find them encouraging and really useful.....

You're welcome. I hope you are successful in your musical adventure. Be sure to ask questions if you don't understand something. There are probably others who use these videos with the same question but cannot ask.

I really appreciate that you're doing the songs in this book because whereas for the all in one book I have a DVD for demos, for this book there are no instructions on the DVD, just accompaniments and I'm not yet ready for that.

I am loving your videos, thank you SO much for taking the time to do them!! I am following along very well in the adult level 1 book, getting everything, playing well, etc....but as soon as I attempt Love Me Tender in this book everything seems to fall apart and I am completely lost, I think because for the first time my hands are in D position and nothing makes sense anymore because I am used to the fingers being associated with notes differently in hand positions we have learned (c, middle c, g). I am on pg 78 in the main level one book which is well past where it says I should be to be able to play this first song in Greatest Hits, yet I am still struggling greatly. Any advice? Should I be trying to play by reading patterns (e.g, up a second, down a third) vs note names or finger positions? Thank you!!

Different people learn differently so it is hard to say in your case. You can try the up a second, etc method to see if that helps. If it does, continue it. You need to always be aware of where your fingers are and which note each finger is on. Later when your hands move around it gets even more involved.

Am rather confused regarding hand positions - left is in G but right not in C as first finger is on key D? And they are overlapping? Have I missed something? Looked at beginning of adult beginners book and clearly said finger one on C - was doing amazing with your fantastic tutorials till now so thank you for doing them

You have to look at the notes and the finger numbers shown and figure out what the positions are. Here, both thumbs are on D. The right hand is not in C position, it is in D position. With music, the position could be anything.

Measure 14 is confusing me. In it there’s two notes that are the same spot but one has a 2 and the other a 4 above it? Edit: Wait I think I got it. You change hand position after that note that has a 2 above it right?

You use finger 4 to play the A and finger 2 to play the middle C.

Do you recommend connecting the notes in the left hand? Or should I just fully lift up between each interval? I know that in past videos you've recommended connecting notes when switching intervals, but I'm finding it to be difficult here

When it is a bunch of chords like this, just play them. Try not to have any more silence between them than is necessary.

Yup. Lots of music uses the same melody but different words.
