Everyone came out the hose and said "did you see that? " We stopped playing football. Half of us ended up as musicians. This was a defining moment in my life. Got me into the Stooges and MC5. not just Slade and T.Rex. And while I was listening to Muddy, Howling and Big Bill we got punk. Thanks Vince, you genuinely changed my life.

I can still recall first seeing this, one Thursday night in 1972 as a mere lad of eleven, in a small town just east of Liverpool on BBC's 'Top Of The Pops'. It changed my life - no-one had ever seen anything like Alice before. He became (and still is) my all-time music hero. Fast forward to 2007 when I finally got to see him live in Manchester: right at the front I was; I took out my camera and pointed it at Alice; he stared straight down the lens and sneered into it as I clicked. Turning to my wife I said: "That's it. I can die now." Absolute legend!!!!

It is the Xmas Disco 1972. Alice's "School's Out" and "Elected" are played in quick succession. Hundreds of 12/13 year kids go crazy. It is followed by Mott's" All The Young Dudes", T-Rex's "Solid Gold Easy Action", the Osmonds' "Crazy Horses", Slade's "G'bye To Jane" and Bowie's "Starman". What an evening. Back then, AC was at the top of his game. I win the Xmas raffle and get my first kiss ! 1972 was a golden year indeed.

I'm sad and sixty but schools out still brings out the rebellious teenager in me. I found a copy of the album and amazingly there are shades of west side story in it. it came out the year before I left school but I thought of the words big time on the day I left. its since been much parodied in the Simpsons amongst others but it still brings the rebellious spirit out in me. I challenge anyone not to listen to this without even tapping your feet. as they said about Ziggy stardust: best played at maximum volume. I love it!

I'm 62 and got into, "Love It To Death" by the Alice Cooper band in 1971, 8th grade, a little bit before a friend turned me on to Black Sabbath. I was totally submerged in those two bands, and all these years later, I still need to hear their music. The trilogy of "Love It To Death", "Killer", and " School's Out", is one of the milestones in Rock music history. The "Killer" album is one of the masterpieces of the '70s, very well put together and produced. "School's Out" showed the peak of the band that had struggled for years. The fold out desk, the pantie album sleeve and music that showed a more serious, 'we are the BIGGEST band in Rock and, yes, we DO PLAY our instruments!'. "Blue Turk", "Public Animal#9", "My Stars", and "School's Out", stand out. Then EGOs, substance abuse, jealousy, envy and other issues, drug them down during the next two albums and they disintegrated as as a band. Very long time fans eventually learned who the musicians and songwriters in that band had really been all those years. Michael Bruce and Dennis Dunaway shared alot of their talent and song writing abilities, and deserved the credit for the Alice Cooper band becoming a PHENOMENAL SUCCESS, as well known as the Stones, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath!

On this day in 1972 {September 21st} Alice Cooper performed "School's Out" on the debut of the ABC-TV networks "In Concert" program... Three months earlier on June 3rd it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #7 and spent 13 weeks on the Top 100... And on August 12th it reached #1 {for 3 weeks} on the United Kingdom's Singles chart... The song was from the album of the same name; the LP peaked at #2 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart...

I'm dedicating this song to all of us who first this, when we were kids at school in 1972. 😎🎸🎶❤️ My late father was a deputy headteacher. 😁

I was 7 that year but always went on a holiday for a week in Weymouth every year throughout my childhood so probably went past there.
