@@hanserwin5111 i would say that gubaidulina's music is focused on, timbre, meter, and intervalic relationships. She has a strong sense of how those three things interact and has built this sense outside of tonal constraints. The incredibly complex flute technique in the beginning, followed by the combination of flute basson and violin, followed by the introductory piano solo I think is exemplary of her style and ethos.

You're right, as long as you listen to more of her music you will get her more and your senses will appreciate it, I recommend you to listen "Offertorium" and the Cello concerto No 2, amazing pieces!!!

Hello Alice. I am a student of dance and energy and would like you to know that this was the first time that I have ever actually been lifted physically into the air by the opening notes of a concerto soloist. I was about to jump but was lifted up before I made the decision to move when you played that opening moment ! I suspect that you are familiar with energetics of various kinds for this connection to have been made so directly. Your performance reminded me of the festival of fire in a night scene from Tarkovsky`s Andre Rublev. I am reading CG Jung`s essay about Paracelsus and it would seem that the Swiss landscape which featured so prominently in the life of the young alchemist has worked its way into your conception of this rather profound work here. The musicians look a bit choked too. Gubaidulina is a very moving composer. Please listen to the music of the composer Lawrence Dunn if you do not yet know his work.I recommend "ambling waking" conducted by Ilan Volkov. I believe that there is a connection between you he and Sofia. Many thanks. This is one of the best renderings of art I have ever encountered. Please keep up the good work. I suspect that you write music also ? Anyway. Thanks so much. G+d Bless.

Love this more with each hearing, and surprised (although maybe I shouldn't be, given how many are scared of contemporary music) it hasn't had more likes. I notice the details, like Alice's incredibly rapid page turns, the piano glitch (?) at 8:52 (anyone else hear it?), her rapt attention and dancing fingers. And at the end the appearance of Sofia Gubaidulina herself. Surely, the foremost of living composers? Thank you, Alice Di Piazza.

...and no one to tell us which orchestra and who's the conductor, as if these things didn't matter ? Or did I miss the information ? Conductor appears to be the Lithuanian Andres Mustonen

I hate it when music is judged like that. Then Mozart fits well with melodrama or light cinema, and Beethoven and Wagner fit well with heavy epic drama or battle scenes. This is of course a subjective listening experience, but such expressions infuriate me
