Yeah I feel the same thoughts it’s a sort of look back on the good times through playing the songs like yes this is one of their most recognized songs (tbh their whole discography is beyond words every song is a gem) and yes this song was written during a very dark time in their lives but it’s not even about that anymore it’s about keeping their friends memory with them as it should be no matter where they go or do Layne is forever and as well as Mike too RIP to both

You know what is so great about Jerry? The thing I've never seen him credited for is the thousands (maybe) of interviews that he's done that inevitably go back to talking about Lane without him snapping. I think I watched one moment where he vocalized this, but consider the many times that he didn't, and played it off with class. That's Jerry Cantrell class.
@Bella_X
Жыл бұрын
I’m sure it’s probably been at least hundreds of interviews and you’re right he always handles those interviews so well. Since the beginning he’s always demonstrated a level of calmness which had to have been difficult especially in the months following Layne’s passing. He’s always been a very chill guy though, very down to earth.❤️

Walked into my favorite bar yesterday. Only 2 girls in there playing pool. After listening to their 10 song stretch of country on the jukebox, I played my usual, which starts with some AIC. I hear the chic complain to her friend, that she didn’t like this song, which was real thing. Then this song comes on. She walks up to the bar to get a water close to me, and says to the bartender, who’s playing this stuff. I’m like, I am, she goes, yer gonna make me cry, I responded, I had to cry listening to your country music! 😂

Nutshell was always near the top of my list for favorite AIC songs, but after they opened their MTV unplugged set with this song, it not only instantly became my all time #1 song of their's, but that acoustic version became my go to instead of the album version as it is just so powerful! Losing Layne was no doubt devastating, but finding and adding William was a brilliant choice! Can he sing like Layne...no...not many can, BUT William isn't too far off and he brings so much passion in his singing.

It wasn’t ever meant to be the same after Layne passed away. The guys at some point felt they needed to decide whether to continue on with or without Layne and subsequently Mike. I don’t feel a lot of people take into account how heavy this choice was, to choose between quitting or moving forward. While all of you have the right to your own opinions Jerry, Sean and Mike had the right to begin a new era with the remaining members of AIC, respectfully.

You have a right to your opinion as well as freedom of speech just as AIC have the right to continue performing this song live.🤷🏻♀️

Thanks! It was the only show I attended where he did the solo by his mic stand. The others shows he did it on the opposite end of the stage. I was so happy I was able to capture this!

It is a big disrespect to William that the camera did not rest one moment, no single moment on him as the singer. That won't do at all.
