William is such a perfect pick to complement the band. He isn't only a brilliant vocalist, but a versatile guitarist as well. Layne's death is tragic and will always be felt, but life has it that when one door closes, another one will open. Such an exciting universe and never short of surprises.

I feel like a idiot for succoming to the knee-jerk "he's not Layne" reaction. William is awesome. He totally fills the big shoes. Jerry is magic as usual.
@IgNoRaNcEbLoWs
3 жыл бұрын
I mean, I agree that this is an outstanding song and William does a great job but I completely disagree that he "totally fills the shoes." The lead vocalist of a band is an identifier more than any other position and Layne had a very definitive aura about him. While this is good, its never the same band with a different lead vocalist and this new variation of Alice in Chains is still way behind the original overall in my opinion.
@brendancripps8890
3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure any of us wanted/expected William to fill Layne’s shoes, and while newer AIC doesn’t have the same crunch and power of the original, it’d be hard to find another band that has “reinvented” itself as well as they have, and still be true to the original we all love.

He would probably be doing backup vocals like Will is, this seems like the type of song jerry would take be lead even with Layne in the band, probably would sound great with Layne but it also sounds great with Will, he harmonizes so well with Jerry. Also his great guitar playing is crucial to the new music, especially love the extra guitar sounds great when they play live

@@puppetmaster8551 No one, not even Jerry could possibly know if ALL of them got clean and performed together again today how they'd sound with Layne. They ALL continued to evolve. Layne was good for Jerry and Jerry was good for Layne in many different ways. And again, the 'delivery' of a song is crucial. If only everyone can see the band then and now as a whole group -- they are more awesome than most ppl give them credit.
