There's a buzz in Belfast as their annual 'Culture Night' approaches. This year two of Belfast's most cunning creative whiz-kids have teamed up to quite literally 'paint the town'. Ciaran Gallagher and Alice McCullough, both maverick award-winning artists, have a lot to say about their city. Ciaran through paint, and Alice through poetry. A new mural will be soon be unveiled in Belfast City Centre - One quite different to the infamous murals of Belfast's past. The mural, nestled a stone's throw from the Duke of York pub (aka 'The Duke') in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter, depicts 'Belfast Stripped Bare' - a satirical look into the windows of a row of terraced houses, through which we see pain, joy, suffering, and the familiar and unfamiliar symbols of Belfast new and old - a city of complex colours, and one that is coming to terms with embracing its diversity. Alice McCullough invites you for a sneak preview of Ciaran's artwork in this video, with her poem 'Belfast, You're Melting My Head (Only Slaggin')'. The poem was written by Alice to accompany Ciaran's artwork and touches upon the themes and questions raised when we look through these windows at where Belfast has been and where we are going.. as Alice insists that despite the past she and the people of Belfast have grown up with, it is now more than ever 'in our hands to change.'
