Pro tip: dye it one more time with 2 parts Apple green, 1 part dark green… it’ll match the Alice. Cheers!

The load-lifters are actually a game changer however, I have found that it is better to have a webbing loop sewn directly to the pack instead of fastened to the frame (use the existing pack webbing as re-inforcement) and use a ladder-lock rather than a fastex side-release buck as per the Medium Molle pack. The reason for this is that by attaching the load-lifter webbing loop directly to the pack and not to the frame, when you pull these tight the effect is to dramatically tighten the pack against the top of the frame, and a tight pack is a light pack! The suggestion to use ladderlocks instead of side-realease bucles is because the side-release buckles are simply too long and restrict the range of adjustment. These seemingly small mods sound like they'd be hardly worth the effort, however, when you do them you will be more than pleasantly surprised at the dramatic effect that they have. Edit: By attaching the Load-Lifter loop to the pack it also gives a downward angle from the attachment at the pack to your shoulder when the pack is full which is closer to the ideal angle of 45 degrees according to people that have studied this in more detail.

At the Schweinfurt DRMO i bought a 3 wall container with 2500 Alice Medium rucks for 110$.... I ate off that container for many Moons.... i culled the mint/unissued ones to the side and they are in storage as future collectors items.

For whatever reason, I like the ALICE Chemical Suit Bag for carrying sleep systems.

We only used the Alice Medium for a light patrol pack in the infantry it’s a huge no no to have your pack set up like a Christmas tree ie shit stuck on the outside way more chance getting snagged in the Jungle, everything had to be inside the pack for obvious reasons but hey as a civi you do you 😂

I have only been on one field exercise with Australian Service Members and they were all Divers. They were very squared away and had all of their gear in good condition so I’m sure you would have all of your straps secured as well. I’m not sure what would make you think that Seabees are able to get away with loose hanging straps. This is obviously not my issued equipment.

people just want to talk shit. As a former infantry grunt I give you a A+ for thinking outside the box.
